  • Re: AP poll

Best chance will be New Mexico falling as they were at home and lost to unranked San Diego State, whereas Oklahoma State lost to #5 Baylor at Baylor and they might fall a spot or two, but might stay in the top 25. Would help greatly if both fell out!

that's two San Diego State has upset, either they're better than some think, or inconsistent like TCU was.I think they like consistency.(pollsters)
OK, upon further review, it was a conference game, change that upset to mild upset.

I watched Marist lose in overtime to Fairfield on ESPNU this afternoon. The end of 3 winning streaks for Marist - 14 games in a row, 30+ conference in a row and 30+ at home. Marist's post player and point guard stood out. They didn't look as deep as SDSU (few teams do). Announcers were impressed with the Marist defense; they had a lot of steals. I thought careless passing by Fairfield was a big factor there. It would be fun to see either team play the Jacks, my gut feeling is neither would fare very well. Keep in mind though that I'm not a basketball coach or analyst and I've only seen the Jacks once and these two teams for a half a game.

I think this is a huge loss for us. I think there are many voters that believe that there is really only one mid-major that contend each year. Marist loss so I think we will begin to really start picking up some higher votes.

OK State losing should assure that SDSU moves back in. Not sure, but Rutgers may fall out with their 6th loss. Reputation only gets you so far.

Maryland beat UNC tonight, in what sounded to be a similar game to ours...UNC up at half only to have MD go on a 13 or so point run, and play back and forth rest of the game...

Well this makes me really crabby. Maybe the husband can explain it to me when he gets home. I guess instead of waiting for the poll I can go back to waiting for Redoubt to blow up.

You would have to believe that a win over your only league loss, and a sub-100 RPI would warrent a "hold" or increase of position. Did we lose votes vs the others in the ratings, or are there fewer points for the ARV teams? If we held our vote totals from prior week, and there was just some shuffling in the top 25, that's not as concerting as losing votes to somebody else.

Well last week we had 97 votes and this week we have 94. I did notice that San Diego State (14-5) went from 1 vote to 8 votes this week after going 1-1 last week, losing at TCU (13-7) and winning by 1 at home to Colorado State (7-14). Assuming some of those votes were for the real SDSU, then all we needed was 5 more votes to be tied for 24th.

Yes, San Diego St is having a good enough year that they're under 50 RPI. However, they have about 5 to 6 losses, and voters should be able to distinguish between So. Dak. St and San Diego St.

Just like they should be able to distinguish between the two fighting ethnicities of UND, or the Trojans and Gamecocks of USC.

I just went back to AP list of voters and they still have last weeks ballots up and the 1 vote for San Diego State came from Stu Durando St. Louis Post-Dispatch he had us in 23 and San Deigo State in 25. So at least last weeks San Deigo State vote was for them.
