Because there are no threads and/or posts about this year's team or Nate in the forum below? Or enjoying this year's team is independent from talking about possibilities in the future?

If someone doesn't want to read speculation on 2013 and beyond and just wants to focus on this year, then don't open the 2013 recruits thread - seems easy? I appreciate the speculation and/or excitement about the program and possibilities and would ask folks to carry on. As far as misinformation regarding transfer rules...doesn't seem any different than misinformation from certain posters (i think/my cousin told me/I knew a guy who did this) in many other threads. I'm pretty sure that a few respected posters have clarified where Cody stands as far as potential transfer options until the NCAA would weigh in after a petition process.

I'd caution those of you that suggest its appropriate to welcome Cody with open arms to consider the reasons that him joining the team is even a possibility. There have been significant issues off the court that must be considered carefully when making this decision. A decision that will not be influenced in the least by those of us on this fan board.

Enough talk about a rumor that has been started by an anonymous name on a fan board. The Jackrabbits are adding 3 young men next year that have great potential to contribute in a meaningful way very early in their careers. I expect that Logan Doyle will redshirt. I think there is a chance that Broman and Severyn play as freshman.

I also wonder if next year might be a bit of a "rebuilding year". Redshirt all 3 incoming freshman, let Chad, Jordan, Braden and Marcus lead and hope that Horstman, Biddle and Prince can greatly increase their contribution while way get our first looks at Devine and Donlan.

Regarding the propriety of discussion of Larson in this thread: I think that, should Larson be signed or walk on, IMHO he certainly would fall into the category of a 2013 recruit even if he sits a year--just like any other potential transfer would. It's just that emotions seem to run higher concerning him than for some other theoretical transfer from Somewhere Else.

Four recruits, not three--isn't Flatten coming here, too?

It's potentially a pretty decent recruiting class--6'2", 6'5", 6'5", 6'8" (depending on what source you're looking at). (Aren't they all?)

Yes, didn't mean to exclude him. I think (I am an expert on this as well) that Skylar absolutely needs to redshirt. I intend to let Coach Nagy know all of my opinions as soon as he returns my calls about arranging for our regular meetings.

My thoughts exactly. To respond to a previous poster, if Larson would "slip up" it would reflect very poorly on the University and the decision making in the athletic department, which is my concern. You don't just dismiss a kid and get away scott-free. Our friends at the Argus (less TV) would have a field day.

Don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for the kid, I'm just not sure the risk is worth the reward. With that, I'm ready to let this play out.

If he plays on a team that gave up 107, that's going to catch Nagy's eye more than the 58. If he doesn't play defense he is not going to play, no matter if he is a scorer.

I think you are correct. Many of the standout players on small school teams more than large school teams are protected to a certain degree which involves less defensive intensity due to foul problems. They are more important to the team rebounding and scoring and ball handling. I do not infer that is the case with young Broman. Either way his defensive talents will be developed by Coach Nagy to earn that time on the court. Even Bader has some defensive talents that keep him a viable starter for Oakland. It is not reasonable to think there would be a player on the Jacks team that does not work to be a defensive player. I would also believe that the coaches have confidence that all the players would be able to make a minimum level defensively or the recruiting would stall on that player.

As far as defense goes, watch Kyle Wiltjer play. He doesn't play great defense, heck at best he plays OK defense. That doesn't mean he isn't an important player, and can't change the game. When you aren't a scorer and can't play great defense thats where you run into problems as a player.

I dont think Nagy would take a change on a guy who scores that much if he didnt think he would be good enough to play defense. he is a gym rat and can shoot the ball, just its hard to know how that translated to the college game for him. hope he does bettter on Dfense so he can get some playing time. My guess is he will redshirt next year because of the difference is defense that his team plays now compared to where nagy wants him. My guess Seyvern is the only one who has a chance to get some minutes. he has the hustle and build in a way like a combo chad white and Griff. plus with the guys who redshirted this year and Bittle back next year who saw good minutes this year till the injury, will be getting the bulk of the bench minutes not really leaving much to any incoming freshman. unless other players leave which I dont see really happening.

Former Roosevelt High standout forward Cody Larson was spotted in Brookings on Saturday, attending the SDSU men’s basketball game with his sister, Wagner, a member of the Jacks volleyball team. Dakota Schoolers director Paul Seville said that Larson, formerly a player and currently at student at the University of Florida, has no plans for his basketball future right now and was back in the area to visit family.

The original post was made by a poster who has a post history that is very credible as well as suggests relation to current players. That's the only reason I took it more seriously than normal.

Anders leads the entire state of Minnesota in steals with 115 so far.

Though his team probably doesn't play great defense, having final scores in the hundreds has more to do with the pace of the game than the actual defense. This is why tempo-free statistic metrics have become popular, because it is a better indicator of performance. Points per possession is much more important to look at.

I'm confident Anders's basketball IQ and work ethic will minimize any athletic disadvantage he has in college and he could turn out to be a really good off-the-ball/team defender.

Exactly. I trust who posted the information originally based on past experience on this board. Two other things:

                                1. If you follow TV on twitter, you'll see he was alerted to Cody being present last weekend by a fellow fan/follower in Brookings. Not some top-secret source.
                                2. I'm guessing that Mr. Seville, at this time, isn't going to provide TV anything on the record as to what Cody is or isn't planning for the years to come.
