You do have to wonder how good he will be though, he red-shirted, played very little and then hasn't played this year, if he has to sit out another year, well then you have to wonder. but he is 6'9"+ and if you can walk and chew gum you won't hurt the team any.
No offense, but you (and everyone else for that matter) has no clue if he's getting a waiver. It's up to the coaches to make the right decision. I'm with JackMD.

      Oops. Sorry, Zach! (I thought I was missing someone . . . I'm embarrassed . . . )

That would be all 13 schollies filled for net year, then. Larson would have to walk on. I have no clue how that would affect any waiver requests to the NCAA.

I agree with that statement, that no one has a clue, the NCAA can make some odd decisions from time to time. However most waivers are for family health reasons, and many of them don't go through.

Now I do think there would be a good chance he would get his 6th year of eligibility, the NCAA is generally a bit more friendly when it comes to that.

since he enrolled at florida so doesnt he have to finish in 5 years. so say this year sitting out the same as a redshirt year so he would have 3 years of eligibility if he signs with a school for next year but if he waits another year, then it goes to 2 years left to play? or its something like that right? I can never remember what it is about finish eligibility but thought it was something like 4 years of sports but have a 5 year window from start to finish, unless medical redshirt situations allow for a 6th year.

He is the same age as Heemstra and Dykstra, you get 5 years to complete 4 years. So he would be year 4 next year (sit out), then have 1 year left. At least that is how my math adds up

Now if you can get the sit out period waived, and the 6th year, then he would have 3 years of eligibility. But judging from previous NCAA decisions I'd be shocked they would grant both

He took a redshirt year his 1st year, played last year, and is sitting out this year.

Perhaps I am confused, but didn't he start the season with Florida this year (sans scholarship)? Even though he is sitting out this year, he isn't sitting out...

As others have said, I'll leave it to the coaches and cheer for him if he becomes a Jackrabbit. I have to admit that I am a little skeptical, but if he can be a good student, teammate, and citizen, I'm all for it.

He was taken off scholarship this year, was going to Walk-On, but ultimately decided to sit out.

Ok, i didnt remember him redshirting. so he would at most have 2 years unless he gets a waiver. well wish him the best. as long as he has got things figured out and the coaches think he could help, i am all for it, otherwise if their are any question marks I think its best just to leave well enough a lone.

Wow has this thread ever taken off with "recent developments". Stay tuned!

                                In other news:

Flatten had 27 points in his team's final regular season game. Clark/Willow Lake finished 19-0.

Severyn had 19 points and 10 rebounds in Pierre's win over Yankton Saturday.

Broman probably found a way to score 40 points from the seats at Frost on Saturday. I'll look into it.
