I think if Nagy wants to put some dollars in the job security bank, he will not fool around with redshirting.

I think you missed my point, I didn't say either were great players. I was just noting that they may have improved quite a bit during their red shirt years and we would never know because we didn't see them play before then.

Either way, it's really not necessary to discuss anymore as both are long gone. I definately think Anthony Cordova benefited from his red shirt year and I believe Garret or Clint would have as well. Like I said before, we didn't really have that luxury the past few years. We might be able to afford to red shirt the freshman next year.

It's hard to make a determination on whether something is better or worse when you don't have a baseline to start with.

I've heard Nagy and a lot of other basketball folks say that the biggest jump in development for college basketball players traditionally happens between their second and third years. I think it's easy to justify that with our current team using AC and Garrett as examples. And it sure is nice that we get to have AC for two more years versus one.

I tire of him putting the blame on the players all the time, it's time he takes the responsibility for the losing.
He also said they had talked about it in timeouts. I am just paraphrasing what he said and don't recall that he in any way was throwing the players under the bus. Sometimes when he gets asked a question about what the players did, his answers address what the players did.

My guess is they don't redshirt. I say add them to Kai and Garrett and see what that team can do.

I hope so. Watching Woodside, Winkleman, Nelson, and AC during the NDSU game the other night had to make you wonder how much better Kai, Garrett, and Clint would have been with redshirt years. It sure would be nice to have those three for an additional year now, we just didn't have that luxury the past couple of seasons.

    Re: NDSU Game Thread

Let me preface this by saying that I have been incredibly impressed with the improvement that AC has shown this year. He has given the team a presence inside and has been a beast on the boards. His strength and athleticism have been major contributers to the improvement this team has made.

The one thing that went through my mind down the stretch is the fact that when you get to the line for 1-and-1 or the bonus, his free-throw shooting is a liability. He is shooting just a shade over 45%. He shoots 55% from the field. It could be argued that another team is better off fouling him and making him shoot a pair from the line than get a shot off.

His athletic presence makes him too valuable to take off the court but it could explain a lack of "touches" during a given point of the game. Over time if he could raise his percentage at the line to even 60% it would be a huge boost for his game.

Geez, I hope this doesn't sound like I'm down on AC, its just the opposite. He has one are he needs to improve on.

    GB, GB, GJ!
