I've seen a reference to this "not as many touches" in the 2nd half, but don't believe it is accurate. You could question the timing of when AC got the "touches", but he was 6-for-6 in the first half on FGs and 4-for-6 in the second half. Sometimes we see what we want to think??? (This post has nothing to do with any decisions in the last minute on personnel, or who takes what shot, or what happened...just a "clarification" comment.)

I don't want to mean here, but boy does that say a mouthful about last year. And, the patience faithful support of the Jackrabbit fans.

Very good post. I don't think you can say it any better. We are much much better than last year and if you can't see that you are BLIND.

Chad White and Tony Feigen are walking through that door though.... I hope that they are as good as I believe them to be...

Mark Tetzlaff is not walking through that door. Lee Colburn is not walking through that door. Steve Brown is not walking through that door And if you expect them to walk through the door, they're going to be gray and old. What we are is young, exciting, hard-working, and we're going to improve. People don't realize that, and as soon as they realize those three guys are not coming through that door, the better this town will be for all of us because there are young guys in that (locker) room playing their a$$es off.
I especially like the last line. Most of us are very anxious for the program to be a winner, I don't fault anyone for that. We need to stick it out and support these guys. They have shown the ability to be resilient and are playing pretty good basketball. That's something, and it means that most of their goals for this season are still attainable.

Let's enjoy that fact and support the guys. These tough losses take their toll on teams. Take for instance last season's December trip to California where 2 devestating losses seemed to really remove the team's hope for the season. This team hasn't taken advantage of every opportunity they have had but to their credit to this point they seem to be undeterred and determined to stay the course.

DISCLAIMER - Lame reference from my non-discript basketball career: My high school basketball coach said repeatedly my senior year, our goal as a team is that in the last 2 minutes of the game we are in a position to win. I know that he wasn't speaking full truth because he really wanted us to win the game, but before we could even worry about that we first had to play the rest of the game well enough and hard enough that we were in the position to win in the first place.

    You're welcome!
That pizza is always good. It just happens to be great when the bars are closing and you could eat anything. They have a gold mine there.
Did you eat at Cubby's before/after the game? Cubby's and pizza are a great combination.
I'm an optimist but I think other than your game and Oral Roberts on the road, they are all winnable. Some people are worried about the tourney but I think even if we lose to Oakland at home, we should still be sitting alright. I don't think we're going to lose that game but it's not life or death.
Between NDSU's Men and SDSU's Women there should be solid crowds in SF. The way NDSU's Women played, they could do some damage in SF until they meet SDSU's Women(of course). SDSU's Men could get the 6 seed and play Oakland in the 1st round. I don't know about beating Oral Roberts but it's not impossible for SDSU and NDSU to play in both championships. I know I'm getting ahead of myself but a guy can imagine can't he?
MAKE THE TOURNEY 1st. I had to say it before everybody else put me in my place.

I said the same thing to the guy next to me. If Kai is our best defender, we were in trouble. After those 3 possessions, Kai did a better job. Winkelman still scored but it took a little more work.

That said, if they miss and he gets the board, he is getting fouled and then you aren't in much better position. There are a lot of different ways to look at it.

I like jp's thoughts about a timeout across half court. Set up an inbounds play with AC checking in and use the last 3 seconds to get a better shot. Gotta love the retrospectascope.

Are you saying they would have fouled AC with the game tied? I don't think NDSU would do that.

I want AC in the game for the last shot especially if its going to come with 3 seconds on the clock. He has as good a chance as anybody at grabbing a board and putting it back.

As for a timeout on the last possession, thats one of the toughest decisions for a coach to make. A TO allows you to set up a play but also allows the defense to get set. I personally like the idea of taking the TO before the FT and then setting up a play if the other team makes both to tie it. Just the way I like it, unless you have a guy like Woodside, then you just give it to him and tell him to go to the hole.
