Colton did verbal to Minnesota.... Apparently it came between Minnesota and Nebraska and Colton thought Tubby could recruit better for the present and Colton could start as a freshman...

I would have to say he is probably correct on both points.

This is what I understand also, good luck to Colton, looking forward to watching him play this year.

I heard this several times today. Culhane claims to have broken the story...Even so, best of luck to Colton and hope the best for him and his parents.

I don't know if this has already been written, but I saw in the Argus that Krogman committed to USD over the weekend. I was hoping to see him in a Jacks uniform. Never saw him play so I don't know if we were after him hard, but it always helps to have someone on your team who knows how to score.

We had an offer on the table that we took off before the start of the season last year. I had heard he was considering walking on at SDSU but what they hell do I know these days. I understand that USD needed to get a recruit like this but USD has Begeman, Pesicka a redshirt that I heard is amazing so I don't know.

Cadsev might be the best guy to answer this but anybody could...
Whats the deal with Cody Schilling? I remember seeing that he had all of these offers this summer and now he has seemed to fall off of the table and haven't heard one damn bit about his recruiting..
Does SDSU have any offers or looking at anybody or do they plan on holding it over for a year? or a JC transfer?

JB22 is right, we offered, he turned it down. USD decided he was right for them. Good for him? Time will tell.

turn down isn't the right wording..... He just never accepted it and Nagy pulled it.

He's down to Augustana, Winona and Northwestern (IA, where his brother plays). He turned down NDSU and I'm sure other DI's (including UWGB) for his own reasons. Not sure where he'll end up but it appears it will be close to home.

The problem with the offers rumor mill is that they are rumors. Kid gets a call or a letter from a school and by the time the information passes from one person to another the kid has offers from many schools. Internet message boards add fuel to the fire and in the end everyone seems surprised by the decisions made.......in many cases it's due to limited solid offers.

Class of 2008 has only 3 SD athletes committed as of today at the DII level and higher. The class of 2007 only produced 6 athletes going to those levels. I don't expect to see many more 2008 kids offered scholarships at these levels except for one more. All others would be walk on situation or limited scholarship money, most likely not full rides.

Pulled it isn't good wording either......athletes have to understand that coaches can not wait forever for commitments......obviously in some situations this can occur but in this particular instance it didn't happen. You can't put blame on either side but people can learn from the experience of others. Athletes down the road will have to weigh the risk in waiting and decide if it's best to commit or risk losing an offer because a school continues to recruit. Needs change as we all have seen in recent years at SDSU with all that has occurred since going DI.

I meant to say that he was offered, for whatever reason didn't accept in a timely fashion, and now he is going to USD.

I've heard Krogman liked the motion offence at USD, so that was a part of his decission.

Now that I am wrong in saying that Krogman was going to be are scholarship and it appears that Iverson and Schilling won't be using it either and the only other apparent D-I athlete (Vlastuin) has committed to Drake already has SDSU offered the scholarship they have to anybody? Does anybody know of anybody from the region (Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Wyoming) that would warrant a look at from a college like SDSU?

Judging from summer games, Krogman will be able to score but could struggle defensively at the D-1 level. He's a good recruit for USD. He'll help keep local interest in the basketball program as the Coyotes transition in obscurity to D-1. It would have been nice to see Krogman in a Jackrabbit uniform to grab some attention in South Dakota, but Schilling would be a bigger catch. If Schilling is not a Jack prospect, I echo JoeBoo's question. Who else is out there to keep a watch out for?
