I would say it is a long shot to see him in a Jacks uniform even if ISU/Dykstra relinquishes their commitment, but I woudn't say it is impossible. Dykstra lived in Sioux Falls before he moved to Rock Valley several years ago and now we have his teammate committed to our program; plus SDSU is the closest DI university with post season eligibility to Rock Valley, so we can always hope... just don't hold your breathe.
Highest in the minds of the service that rated him 3-stars...many would argue that SDSU already landed the better of the two basketball players from his HS team. Keep in mind he verballed as a freshman....after Mac watched him in one practice he received an offer on potential. The thought was that they could make him a 3 or 4 man when he was clearly a 5. He's not nearly as skilled as Hemestra and they are trying to drive a square peg into a round hole making him a 3 or a 4......ISU waffling most likely is based on that fact and it could happen. He'd be a great get for SDSU in the Summit League...but I hate rankings.....they mean absolutely nothing.

White, Fiegen and Carlson have played quite a bit with the current athletes the last few weeks. Everyone is excited and see's that these three are adding much needed depth and athleticism to the team. You add to that Horstman and Hemestra and they can't help but be excited. Going to be an EXTREMELY athletic team in a few years.

Chad White is outstanding....had he not verballed early, not gotten hurt he would have gone higher than the Summit League.

Tony Fiegen gets better every day and once he starts using his size and athleticism he's going to be a good one....he's played below the rim too much in the past and is possibly the most athletic senior in the state.

Brayden Carlson is a diamond in the rough.....outstanding job of landing the local Brookings kid.

These three kids are special and are going to elevate the talent level of SDSU immediately.

Side note....Northern Iowa is in Ellsworth today to watch Gruis workout.....Bigs are premiums......if you have one local you recruit him hard.

I'm not a huge fan of rankings myself, though they can be used as a reference point in regards to whether a mid major has a legitmate shot at landing a kid. I made sure to call Dykstra potentially the "highest profile" recruit because, to my knowledge, we have never landed one ranked so high nationally, but this does not mean he is the best recruit or even the recruit with the most potential. Dykstra is ranked higher nationally than Heemstra in every recruiting site I have seen and he has developed some prestige around Iowa and the Nation for committing to ISU so young; that is all I was saying.

Center for Center who would be a better get... Gruiss or Dykstra?

I can't really expand on anything else he spoke about/told me.

Thanks, Rep Points for these nuggets.

When's the last time there was this excitement in April for a season still a good six months away?

Anyone know how many of the 2010 recruits will be at the Elite Camp in June? It would be interesting to see all of these names on the court competing.

Anyone see any of the Dakota Schoolers Spring Jam this weekend? Was just wondering how the South Dakota teams did and what players stood out in the tourney?

I hope there is a sense of urgency for some of these "Bigs" with SDSU offers to make a committment. Would love to know who is at the top of the Jacks draft board. Druis,Bjorklund,Calcaterra. My guess is because Druis is the most recent public acknowledgment of an offer that he is the current #1 big man option. If one of the others reaches out and wants to committ would they go back to the first option and say it's time to put up or move on? What if Dykstra decides he wants to be a Jack? As Nagy indicated in the press release on Wolters once good players start committing everyone wants to be part of it and it can be a positive snowball effect. We certainly know the effects of the other direction.

Based on the info I have Gruis is a player that we are very interested in. It was also brought to my attention that Heemstra's teammate Dykstra was not going to be going to attending Iowa State and that he might be interested in joining Marcus at SDSU, I guess we will see.

I expect to see Trevor Gruis in a Jackrabbit uniform but what do I know.

I agree with you and expect Gruis to hopefully verbally commit before the end of the summer if not sooner!

Add Gruis or Dykstra....oh baby! I think we're set for wing players for a few years, would love to get some bigs now.
