I didn’t see Meachum listed in the RB depth? Did I miss something? Or is he trying to transfer out?
Yes, he's going back to Philly. He got a great job as an accountant. He got offered the job midway through the semester and talked to the coaches about his role going forward. Definitely left on a good terms.

Thanks for the info, and good for him. I really would have liked to see him get a few more carries this spring. Great athlete.

That's great for him, and unfortunate for us. He never really got a chance to display much as a RB due to the talented duo in front of him. But man was he a boost in the kick return game. So this is definitely a loss to our special teams. But good for him and good luck. Can't begrudge a guy for moving forward with his post-football life, so good luck to him!

Good stuff! Think the staff will try to bring in another transfer/Juco QB for additional competition and depth? Juco might be tough since Gronowski will be back in 2022, but could be a route they take to fill in this fall.

I'd like to see the coaches utilize some of our backup QBs from time to time. Special plays or just some snaps when the game isn't close. Might help with retention at a position where we've struggled to keep guys recently.

Karst Hunter, walk-on and backup QB/WR, has entered into the transfer portal.

Westside had him listed strictly as a WR on his blog yesterday.

Even before Hunter announced he was leaving, I’ve been of the opinion that we need to get a second QB from the transfer portal anyways. This just reinforces that.

Listed as an athlete on the roster and became the backup in Frisco when Gronowski went down.

Any idea what caused him to be elevated over Voss (if Voss was running scout team)?

My assumption is Hunter’s experience with the offense. It is different running our offense than running the scout offense every week. Total guess though.

It would be tough to put a kid in at QB in a National Championship game who had never played a down of college football.

I definitely understand that. It just seems like the player who at least took reps at QB might have an advantage over a player who was taking reps at WR and special teams.

Agreed, but did Hunter have that much of an advantage in terms of reps at QB at that point?

It'd essentially be the situation Heide was in against Bison in 2019, except the Jacks had an arguably stronger rushing attack and OL against Sam Houston to facilitate Voss's ascension

                              • Hunter was a better athlete, thus had a better chance of success. Too bad he is leaving, athletes are always useful.

Voss is limited to a backup QB spot in the future.
