          Re: Signing Day Thread!

Jackrabbit Manifesto - the 9 principles of Jackrabbitism for all recruits new to Brookings.

          1. Be prepared for one of the friendliest towns in America. It can be disarming, even a little offputting at times, but people will be genuinely interested in you and your success.

          2. Your education will be second to none. Any alum will tell you that - whether she graduated in 1930 or 2010. The university community takes this core mission very seriously.

          3. Embrace the weather. If you are the outdoorsy type from a warmer clime, don't fear January. Defy it. It always passes. Winter helps you understand that there is nothing like a crisp fall football day or that first rush of real spring air. You tend to take less of everything for granted.

          4. When you play hard and passionately, there is no better, nor more loyal, fan base behind you, even if they sometimes express it in swells of modest Dakota appreciation. Steady as she goes, but full speed ahead.

          5. Jackrabbits are unique. You will be part of many overlapping circles of families, but you can always retain your identity in Brookings - and wherever life takes you thereafter. This is why we have one of the coolest, most unique mascots in America.

          6. If the University of South Dakota is on your schedule, no matter if you are 0-10 and have not scored in three months, all will be forgiven and that game will be won. This is as an important element of Point 5 as anything you will ever know or feel for the rest of your life.

          7. In the rare year that a certain institution Way Up North named after a humped animal steals our beloved Dakota Marker, it WILL be returned to its rightful location in Brookings after the very next meeting on the Gridiron.

          8. Enjoy the ride. It goes by so fast, even if what you have just chosen to embrace will never leave you.

          9. A Jackrabbit's worst day is infinitely better than the best day of a Coyote, Bison, or Panther.

          Go Jacks!

That was a good day! I'm not going to rate or rank...every player we got was needed to fill needs and keep the Blue Bunny Machine going! Welcome each and every one! I hope they all have to redshirt (except for the Jucos of course) because we are that good this year!
Here's to looking at the 2010 class to kicka$$!
With fans like this who needs enemas.....

Thank ya! I wasn't mad that he left, I figured it would happen sooner or later, but to do it in that manner and BEFORE he made good on his promise to all of us [ "I will bring the ring home before leaving, blah blah blah"]and AFTER it was too late for any hope of getting a decent free agent,[thus setting the organization back a couple of years] I was just done with his antics!

Did anything happen with Aware from Sioux Falls as he was not listed on GoJacks.

Colorado offered him at the last minute and he apologized to his SDSU contact, but told him he had faxed a letter of intent to Colorado. Advised to talk to his high school coach about having two letters of intent, the coach contacted Colorado and then found out that the scholarship offer was a one-year deal. A follow-up phone call to the Colorado AD asking if they would release him from his LOI since he did not understand it was a one-year deal, was granted, and he became a Jackrabbit! Luke Meadows said he is a great kid and was really torn, but had always had a dream of playing in the BCS and the Colorado offer left him in turmoil. Important thing is that I think he is a great get! Welcome to SDSU Brandon.

just speculation but it could be he hasn't been formally accepted to SDSU yet, and because of they can't announce it.

All scholarships are 1 year deals. If anyone thinks otherwise, they are drinking too much blue kool-aid.

yeah they are but some schools are much more willing to cut you loose for all sorts of reasons.

Can't knowingly comment on Brandon, though one option is that he signed with Colorado and had second thoughts, then the Buffs let him out of his letter when they signed somebody later in the day. Just speculation. We'll probably never know the truth.

Wow, what a great day! This class looks great. It's just hard to argue, given that that basically everybody signed (even a couple we feared might get away at the last second), that this isn't a great recruiting class, perhaps our best ever.

Best of luck to the newest Jacks!
Grumbling along and embracing my role. If I didn't care, I wouldn't care. Go Jacks!
