WHOOPS...MY BAD! The bottom two should read Creighton vs. Southern Ill. All the scores are correct. Thanks for catching that! I went back and edited the post.

I've also got 4 extra reserved tickets for Thurs night. PM me if interested. (Face Value).

I heard the interview AJ did with KWSN and he said they still had tickets available, and this was at 3:30. Let's get this thing sold out so Creighton can walk in and be amazed.

        Re: WNIT Round One: Creighton

IMHO, we've already gotten our second home game if we beat Creighton. TPC goes where the highest guarantee is (although they also look at attendance figures to make sure you are going to have people in the stands).

The reason the TBD is listed in regards to the Marquette/SDSU/Creighton bracket is that the location will be where the largest guarantee is, which in the SDSU/Creighton matchup, we host. BUT, in addition, they have not decided the second round location, because it depends on WHO wins in our game. If Creighton wins, they will go to Marquette. If SDSU wins, Marquette comes here. IF Marquette had a higher guarantee than the other two schools, the second game would have been at Marquette, because it wouldn't matter who won. (In the cases already decided, TPC knows who has the higher bid for the second round because the schools have larger guarantees than either of the other two schools.)

So let's get this win and watch a second game in Frost!!!

Has anyone found a Creighton fan forum?

          edit: nevermind, found one.

They're so full of themselves and their men's bb team, I doubt most know they have a women's team. Too bad they're getting spanked at home by Rhode Island in the men's NIT tonight.

You've hit a nerve with me. And what I'm saying is I agree with you on the topic of lady nicknames. There's nothing about Jackrabbits (or Tigers or Coyotes or Yellow Jackets or Vikings or Bulldogs or Irish or Trail Blazers or Cobblers or Cavaliers or Dragons or Packers or Lions or Panthers or so many nicknames ... I think you get my drift) that implies gener. Some do -- Cowboys or Kings or Bucks ... maybe Warriors or a couple others. In those instances there are Cowgirls, Queens, etc. But there's no need of Lady Jacks or Lady Lions or Lady Vikings, etc. It's just a personal thing, I guess, but it drive me nuts. Now you know.

Yes, I already emailed them to explain that we're the Jackrabbits, not the Jack Rabbits. While we're at it, somebody should explain to Thorstensen at KSFY that our coach's name is Aaron Johnston, with a t, and our women's basketball team is NOT called the Lady Jacks. Ugh.

What has happened to accuracy as a basic value of journalism?
Grumbling along and embracing my role. If I didn't care, I wouldn't care. Go Jacks!

                  http://media.www.sdsucollegian.com/m...-3274275.shtml
The Collegian has our story online.
"I know what is going on," sophomore forward Maria Boever said. "Last year it was so much to take it on. We are calm but it (is) still exciting."

The Jacks are one of the hottest teams heading into the tournament having reeled off 12 wins in a row. The team won its past 22 games at home, the third longest home streak in Division I.

"At home we've been excellent in our time here. We have won 90 percent at Frost Arena and that is over an eight-year stretch and that's a really impressive number," Johnston said.

                    Re: WNIT Round One: Creighton

Found this first quote on Facebook, looks like we won't be having a band there, which is really disappointing. If anything I was hoping they would bring more band members, but I guess it is spring break...

Unfortunately I just got the call from Coull, the band won't be at Thursday's game. Too many of us are gone for break. However, if we win and host the next game on Easter Monday, he said we'd probably be there.
I'd rather have no pep band than theirs, but since they only get 50 guaranteed seats I would guess that they don't have the option of bringing one. Anyone heard anything else about this?

                    From TV's blog:
Bluejays coach Jim Flanery said that the team hopes to have a pep band, cheerleaders and several fans at Frost Arena on Thursday. Some of that may depend on ticket availability as Creighton is guaranteed only 50 reserved tickets plus whatever GA passes it chooses to buy.

                          Re: WNIT Round One: Creighton

Follow-up on something earlier in this thread:

Recall that the Omaha Weird Herald misidentified us as the Jack Rabbits in their WNIT story. I had emailed the sports editor, and received no response. The story online didn't change. Apparently, the sports editor didn't care that his reporter had made a mistake that would get you an "F" in a sophomore newswriting class, a mistake he could have avoided with a 10-second Google search.

So I emailed the executive editor who instantly replied. Now I have received a terse "Dear Sir" email from the sports editor noting that the correction was made in the online version. No doubt he got a tough message from his boss.

Lesson for journalists: No mistake is a "small" mistake. Even if you don't care about accuracy (or about some podunk university that isn't big-time enough for you), I can guarantee you one thing. Your executive editor will care. It's his or her job to protect the credibility of the publication.

                            Nice work JJ!!

Dr. Oien talked about things like this at the Sioux Empire Staters meeting yesterday. "Anything" we as alumni and friends of the program can do to help, it's going to take "Jackrabbit Nation" to get the word out about South Dakota State University. "It's going to take our nickels, dimes, dollars, major gifts and buying season tickets, and if you can't do that bring a friend to a WNIT game or any game or Tailgate in the backyard."

                            Again, great work JJ.

                            Go Jacks!!
