I think we should be thanking Haleigh Timmer for four great years as a Jackrabbit. She's a talented young woman who apparently wants to explore other options. SDSU prepared her well for success. I can't really blame Jenna Hopp for wanting to move on, either. She's a good, scrappy player who probably wants more playing time. Best wishes to both of them.

I do not find a WBB player Abby Holscher that is on the future roster list from GL

    Might that be Abby Hoselton?

I should say this as well. A Grad transfer is a little different in my book. I look differently at those that earn an SDSU degree and have a year and want something else. Timmer obviously falls into that category. Hopp I'm guessing wasn't happy with her role and players have always transferred for that reason even before the transfer portal and NIL. .

Also our basketball teams are able to operate at a very good level (charter flights, equipment, etc.) compared to many teams, including those in "higher perceived conferences"

Things has make me go hmmmmm. On Senior Day, Haleigh came off the court same time as the four honored teammates. Maybe the possibility was known internally all along.

I'm not mad at her. I believe firmly this is that State can't offer her what she needs next education wise and is not going to waste a year hanging around to just play basketball. I'll die on that stance.

I have struggled with donating to the NIL. I've decided to give what little I can to the Jackrabbit Club. Players and coaches will come and go, but the endowment is forever. I just can't justify throwing money at a kid who will leave the next year.

But if it comes to another “we need money for NIL”, I’m out. It feels like an uphill battle we won’t win. JMO.
i totally agree with you. At what point are people going get tired of being asked to give more money. I feel like giving to NIL would be a waste of money. Because as SalemJack said, we are never going to be able to win the NIL bidding wars. Im happy giving my monthly donation to the jackrabbit club, giving to one day for state and the auction. When the JFPA started the NIL i gave to it right away. But havent given anything since.

Elle Evans is SIX freaking 3. she is taller than Brooklyn. she can guard a LOT of posts (I would have felt ok giving her a shot guarding Sarah Strong if she was on our roster vs UConn)

I LOVE Timmie but all of those players are better players at OTHER schools. it is very possible that Timmie has more value to us than she has almost anywhere. she fits absolutely GREAT with Brooklyn and Maddie as returners and leaders of a bunch of returning freshman and incoming freshman

is she seriously worth 100k? my understanding was that Baylor got 80k when he left. Timmie is not playing that role for a power conference school

if the offer is just 50k is that really enough to leave? she is getting some money and it seems like as likely our clear #2 next year there could be at least a little more

this is a player, who started every game of our run to a WNIT championship. the last returning player from that team. a starter on two teams that went to the NCAA and won a first round game and an injured player on another ncaa team. she has been a part of THREE NCAA teams and a WNIT champ

a person leaves all of that and multiple 3 year teammates for 50K minus what she will get from BWW and perhaps more? if that is seriously where we are at... sports is really really getting ruined

YES there are still beautiful moments but the ratio of ugliness vs the moments that bring us joy and inspire us is moving very very quickly in the wrong direction

UNLESS there is some piece of info we do not have, Haliegh Timmer is NOT a player who should be playing her final year with a bunch of new teammates instead of getting honored next year at senior day with Brooklyn, Maddie, and Ellie!!!!!

and along that line, did something happen since senior day? if this was even a tiny possibility, why didnt she walk on senior night so that she could be thanked and honored by the fans? that would have been kind of incredible

that would have been the last 5 members of the WNIT champs walking out the door TOGETHER and Kallie and Timmie played BIG roles in that run to the title

I know that we had Dru a couple years ago for her final year instead of her finishing with the team she had played the rest of her career with, but she was getting married and made the move to be closer to her future husband. maybe there is some circumstance we are unaware of? I love her and wish her the best regardless!!! but programs should NOT lose players like Timmie and definitely not becasue of less than 50k
Not saying anything was in the works, but maybe she didn't want to be a distraction.

The year prior she was Big East first team averaging 23ppg for Villanova. McKenzie Mathurin a '25 who is now with Michigan after decommitting from Nebraska was asking for $200k from Nebraska

I would say that is realistic. From what I've heard most good MM's are anywhere from 25k to 100k with a handful above."

I was away from my phone, so I didn't hear about Timmer being in portal until a friend mentioned it when I met him and his wife for supper. I thought he was punking me, because Timmer wasn't the first WBB player I expected to hit portal.

Part of me wonders if she might pull a "reverse Gylten" and go to Utah
Skim seemed to think Iowa State would be in the mix ('just off the top of [their] head') and did note that SDSU would be a team to watch for Meister.
I wonder if Kansas State would be an option for Timmer considering the SDSU staff ties

He was even almost talking over Gaskins while John was trying to interject some things (like it not being pay for play) to hammer the point across.

As an example, $10k from SDSU versus $40k from a bubble Iowa State team? They still gotta pay Crooks, Addy Brown, 9 other players, plus a incoming recruiting class

Wonder if the university has explored Alston payments. Haven't checked how that's impacted by house settlement
