Roz followed the nice relay throw in the bottom of 4 with a first pitch NO DOUBT BOMB to LF in the top of 5. one runner on

Jacks go on to get the W 7-1

Roz and Jocelyn and Lindsay bats have really woken up, or in many ways hard hit balls have started finding holes. A williams has been a very productive addition to the lineup. it is very rare to have everyone in the lineup clicking at the same time. if you can have 4-6 hitting well you can usually put up decent runs

even with the offense coming to life lately the jacks still have some BIG sticks from last year who have not gotten it going. seems like there could be some big hot streaks coming still

Must be a lot of fun playing so well and winning games like they are doing. That relay throw to get the runner at home and the throw to 3rd for a double play would be on a highlight reel for sure if we were in the NCAA Tournament. Great to see the ladies excelling early in the season.

The offense is really JUST starting to roll a bit in the last 5 or 6 games (out of 17 played so far) and while it looks better they still dont have all the cylinders firing. they have 3 big bats who last year combined for about 20 homers and over 40 extra base hits. the same 3 are at or nearing half of their ABs from last year and I dont think they have 5 extra base hits between them. trusting the talent and hoping they get rolling soon. tomorrow against OSU seems like a great time for all 3 to get their first homer of the year)))

TK did not start either game yesterday. i am guessing / HOPE HOPE HOPING they were giving her a little extra rest before OSU. i definitely could be wrong, but with both games available to watch yesterday, I never spotted Grace with the team once. whatever is going on, i hope Grace is or will soon be OK! Shannon and Alexa looked very solid yesterday!

if the Jacks could take a split from OSU, i would think that would be a huge shot of confidence!! That will be no small or simple task, but i DO NOT think it is out of the question.

        OSU is 15-1
they have beaten 5 ranked teams
        common opponents:
they beat the huskers 10-0, and 3-1. Jacks beat the huskers in our opening game of the season 2-0
they beat NMSU 13-0, we beat them 3-2

Looking at the common opponents, they (OSU) appear to have a high powered offense, but the second game vs Neb is encouraging, Nebraska giving them some problems. Nice to see they (OSU) are human and can have an off game. Two of OSU common opponents games are shutouts , do they have a shut out type pitcher I wonder, or two. Glad we are hitting very good and I too hope the hitting for the Jacks remains strong and is augmented by more bats coming alive at an opportune time playing against a highly ranked team. Should be a fun challenge for our Jacks , not very often do we get to test ourselves against such an excellent team. I think our confidence is growing, the team playing well , at the right time.

To answer my own question, yes they have shut out pitchers, 4 have thrown shutouts, Kelly Maxwell leading the way with 3, Kyra Aycock with two, Ivy Rosenberry with 1, Lexi Kilfoyl with 1. I'm surprised how deep their pitching roster is , 7 on the roster, only1 has a loss. Our hitting will be challenged with excellent pitching, it will be interesting to see to see which ones they will use in our two games with them. I hope we see one of their best, even though it will be harder to get a hit, we will learn a ton from her. Rosenberry has the lone loss against Maryland, they were ranked in the top 25, but most recently dropped out. This elite team has a couple top notch pitchers who transferred in from other schools.

apparently cannot watch the first game today
and at the moment it does not look like we will be able to see the OSU game. that will be a big bummer

if live stats is correct, and i have a mild amount of doubt, it says TK is pitching the first game today. i gotta say i dont understand why they would have saved her yesterday to have her throw against Tarleton today. surely they are not gonna have her start back to back at noon and 2:30 today

i was totally thinking she would start both OSU games. like i said i have a little doubt that live stats is right, but?????

If you go through the OSU website you can listen to the game

OR if i did it correctly, you can use this link

vs. South Dakota State - Oklahoma State University Athletics (okstate.com)

I did not expect TK to start both games today being played back to back, despite only going 5 innings. and that is the case. Lacey is on the mound, or at least that is what the lineup card says.

i REALLY cannot understand NOT starting your #1 Pitcher in a game against the #3 team in the country?? there is no reason she could not have started this game and again tomorrow at noon.

winning either one of these games would be a big boost to seeding come NCAA tourney time and TK on the mound is the no brainer best plan to win one of these games, UNLESS there is something going on with TK also?? they pulled her with less than 100 pitches thrown and only 1 hit allowed

anyway, i dont understand it, but i will trust the coach has a good reason

Jacks drop the first try to OSU 4-0

both teams had 6 hits and 1 extra base hit. difference in the game OSU also had 6 walks and 3 of those came around to score obviously accounting for most of their runs. the jacks had only one walk. had a runner in scoring position a couple times but could not knock her in

to be clear, I wish i had an understanding of why we would not start TK in this game, but i am NOT saying the loss is Shannon's fault!!! four of the walks were in the first 2 innings. two in the first ended up not hurting us. two in the second both scored. obviously you cannot tell listening on the radio, but the announcer was saying most of the pitches were close. it is also obvious that OSU has been scoring plenty of runs and no pitcher Lacey or TK or anyone else was gonna throw the ball down the middle

the walks were unfortunate but overall it sounded like Shannon did very well. that is just the way it goes when you play a team as good as OSU. you have to play very close to your best game and you probably need a break or two

it will be very interesting to see who starts tomorrow. if it is not TK that seems some indication that she is also less than 100% not trying to make a giant deal out of this, but TK was selected as a top 70 player in the entire country going into this season. you would think in the biggest games you wanna put the ball in her hands and take your chances

                    TK goes today
down 0-2 after 4 today. OSU put their ace, Maxwell, in to start the 5th

4 walks in 1st inning led to 1 run. the first two walks led to the run. the other two were semi intentional with an open base. one more walk in each of the second, third, and fouth. two of those were also with first base open

wish we could have seen these two games. very surprising that there is no way to see games with the number 3 team in the country. i have suspicion that both Lasey and TK got squeezed a bit, but i also dont doubt that OSU hitters are very disciplined about swinging at the pitch they want and not fishing on pitchers pitches

OSU got a run in the 4th on a bunt single, a single, a double steal, and a sac fly
just scored in the 5th (Lasey in now) error with two outs and a runner on second

                    down 0-3 now

OSU scored another run on a strike 3 that was not caught.

Jacks come to bat in top of 6 down by 4 with OSU ace in the circle

top of 6 we had runners on 1st and 2nd with one out for the second time in the game and we got a pop out and a K, also for the second time. if we are gonna beat teams like OSU we are going to have to score when we have these opportunities

we will see what happens the rest of the way, but overall we have played pretty tough and the games have probably been even more competitive than the scores. but there are still some areas to improve

somehow they got 2 runs off 3 singles in the bottom of 6. i dont see a stolen base or a charged error. that would mean someone scored from first on a single. anyway, it is not overly important.

my guess we pressed a little bit in the final innings. giving up a run on a strike 3 not caught, etc...

yesterday we tied them in hits with 6 singles each. today we still held them to 8 singles but we only had 2. end of the day we will have to hit more and get hits when we have runners on second, especially with less than 2 outs

Maybe first batter walked , then 3 consecutive singles (rare?) would equal 2 runs on 3 singles, if they could run fast enough to home plate from second base and third base on the last single. To me, a walk is the same thing as a base hit , it's a potential run.

I've seen their schedule, they've beat a good many teams way worse than us, and they used 3 of their best pitchers in the process. They are #3 in the Country for good reason. I think we showed fairly well, maybe we just weren't quite on enough to score some runs, but we held them down some what defensively. It was a good learning experience.

cannot remember now. maybe i can go back and look, but i believe they began the inning with 3 singles. like i said not super important, just found it a bit interesting
