My brother in-law lives in Pierre and is a hardcore basketball follower. According to him, we have a great chance with Severyn as he is most likely mid-major bound. Just need to keep the likes of NDSU, USD and others out of the picture. Lane would be a great fit for SDSU. I think he has tremendous potential.

Hanson, however, is a different story. Zach is getting looks from much, much bigger schools . Kansas coaches have been spotted at several of the Pierre games if that says anything. It will be tremendously difficult to keep Zach in-state, let-alone get him to come to SDSU.

If SDSU could pair the two up in a Dykstra/Heemstra combo package, it would be an unbelievable get.

Omaha Central point guard Tra-Deon Hollins got some love in the Omaha World Herald, getting named first team All-Metro. Hollins has always played second fiddle to the big guy in the post, Akoy Agau, a top 100 recruit.

Hollins, a 6-2 guard, averaged three steals a game. He and Agau were the top scorers on a team that had seven players average at least seven points.
"Tra-Deon is really underrated in terms of what he does,'' Behrens said. "He gets his steals without gambling. He takes his guy and locks him up. He guarded the best scorer, always.
"He also shot a high percentage for a guard, over 50 percent. In short, Tra-Deon produces." Among the schools that have shown recruiting interest in Hollins, the coach said, are Nebraska, Creighton, South Dakota State and Drake.

I only saw him play one game in person, and his defense and long-range shooting really stood out. He shut down a really quick point guard in that game, picking his pocket several times. He also was unafraid to launch 3-pointers from several feet behind the arc, and hitting on a high percentage of them. The biggest flaw I noticed is that while his shot is fairly quick, it is not a classic jump shot with good elevation. If he could develop that while filling out his slight frame, he could be a Ceola Clark type of guard.

Among the schools that have shown recruiting interest in Hollins, the coach
said, are Nebraska, Creighton, South Dakota State and Drake.

Edit: Sorry for the rant, but some people don't understand how good these players are that play on that level. The fact that he was highly recruited AFTER all those issues in Sioux Falls tells you he's obviously a talented kid.
I dont ever see him doing much at Florida, especially if Donavan wants to stay top 15, he will recruit even better players.

I play high school bball for Brookings, and the first game we played Pierre, Severyn lit us up, i think he had like 23 in the first half. He would be a great asset for us considering the guards we have now are all practically PGs. I mean a lengthy, 6,4" or 6'5" sg/sf would sure help. And this game was in Pierre, and Scott Nagy was there, also at the home game against Pierre.

Hansen is probably the more needed player, considering big centers are scarce here in the midwest, and we have never really had size. I hope he looks at Cody Larson's situation at Florida, you go to a big school and you barely play because of big schools' ability to recruit better players every year such as 1 and done freshmen. And then he looks at Nate Wolters' situation, Nate is much much much better than Cody Larson and yet he decided to go to SDSU (and yes I know he didn't have big offers), and now he is projected to get drafted. Soooo, basically bigger isnt always better. Come to SDSU, get playing time, get better, and draw attention (easier said than done)

Again, Cody Larson was a FRESHMAN this year. Nate would have MAYBE seen the floor at Florida as a redshirt freshman.

Hanson from what I could tell just watching on TV is a very smooth player. has good feel and touch and movement. never looked out of control and looked like he knew what he was able to do, similar to how nate operates, very smooth. Would be a great get for SDSU. I cant remember, do we have offers out ot both Hanson and Severyn?

I saw that Skyler Flatten was in the argusleader second five. They said he was being actively recruited by division 1 schools, but did not give any names. I wonder if that Clark/Willow Lake water works for boys basketball players like it works for the gals. I wonder if we are one of the teams looking at him or not.

I believe NDSU has offered him.

Keep and eye on Flatten...he may have a stellar senior year if he continues to mature and stay on the improvement curve he's been on for the past couple of seasons.

He wants to play DI ball.

Ok thats true, but like I said, top 50/100 recruits will keep coming in, taking up his playing time. Donavan will put the best players on the floor, Larson has a tremendous amount of talent but i bet in a couple years, we will see that he probably would have benefited a little more going to a little smaller D1 school.

He was a redshirt freshmen. He has been with the Florida program 2 full seasons and rarely sees the court.

From December 17th on, he played in 17 games. In those games he played a total of 79 minutes and scored 0 points.

My points exactly. My overall opinion, he isn't good enough to play well at Florida.

Zach is an outstanding HS player and college prospect. Safe to say the most sought after SD recruit on a national level, however, Kansas has not been in house to see open gyms, practices or any games. People need to reign in their comments on the recruiting process unless they have solid facts on which coaches have made the trex to SD. No sense blowing up his recruitment beyond reality.

Here is the stat line for a former Gator his Freshman year:

                                9.4 MPG
                                3.5 PPG
                                57.7 FT%
                                2.5 RPG

Team finished 24-8 and lost in final 32 (2 round) of NCAA's

Not exactly stellar numbers and many on this site would say that Freshman was horrible and not good enough for Florida......Florida is in the SEC....not the Summit League. The SEC produced the National Champion this year as they have in the past in fact they have had 3 times since 2006. Many Freshman don't walk into the SEC and contribute day 1. No freshman at Florida does that unless their roster dictates that they play all freshmen or you are the National HS Player of the Year and a guaranteed NBA Top 5 pick (ala Bradly Beal). Cody is talented enough to play at Florida, did contribute to the program, battled through injuries and illnesses and still had as good of freshman year as many of his teammates and past Gators.

I believe Cody said it best when he stated "I'd rather be playing for a program that is competing for a National Championship than one that is just happy to make the NCAA tournament."

Oh and btw the stats for the athlete listed above were for Joakim Noah.....and he's not that good well at least to some on this site he wouldn't have been.
