Re: NAGY must ... Stay (for awhile)

Anyone that doesn't see the team getting better obviously only watches the team during the tournament. Have there been tough losses that shouldn't have happened? Yes. But every team has them.

This team has gotten better and the team has a very bright future. Anyone that thinks the team is moving backwards needs to step back from a tough loss and think a little bit.

First of all you need to open your eyes and look around. The facilities may not be the greatest now, but in the future they will be (Dykhouse Center, new addition to HPER Center) Weather doesn't win or lose basketball games since they're played indoors. Academics are fairly high for a Division I school (look at all of the academic all-american student athletes SDSU has on a yearly basis). This school is not mediocre in every aspect, majors like Ag, Pharmacy, as well as others do very well across the board ("you can go anywhere from here"). If people think coaching at a D-1 level is so easy, I'd like to see them try to coach. And lastly, if SDSU is such a bad school like you say it is, why did you enroll here?

To sit and watch our defense and lack of rebounding in the second half as Moss sat on the bench was tough to take. Clint is good player but there was no reason for him to floor the last ten minutes. He looked tired and was playing no defense. Nagy is obviously in love with payers that can shoot 3's but at some point he needs to realize that there is more to basketball. Dale is the best athlete, defender and one of the top rebounders. To have him sitting on the bench because he isn't a good three point shooter is coaches decision and a poor one. Also, what is the point of putting in him for 1 or 2 minutes and then taking him out?

Nagy proved that he could recruit and coach at the D-II level but we are D-I now. This level of basketball appears to be over Nagy's head. He has been given more than a fair chance to move this program to the next level and hasn't. It is time for Nagy to be fired. If not, I hope Dale talks to coach Stig and plays football next year. To watch Nagy waste his talent is embarrassing.
Thanks Dales mom, welcome to the board. (Side note: nothing against moms posting on the forum)

We were playing a team we split with during the season, a good team without our starting center.... I don't think we have to go all suicidal.... tough loss.....

I agree. There seemed to be the same sentiment after the last football game of the year this season as well. The team is going to lose, but to throw a great coach out because one team just played better than the other is unfair.

I, for one, am excited already for next year to see what this team can do. I am glad that I got the chance to see out seniors play all four years. Here is to the net crop of freshmen that will take the torch and build on things.

I didn't get to see or hear the game but that does sound pretty reasonable.

I really like what Calapari (sp?) has done down at Kentucky, so thats my choice #1, although he may not be a fit with our academics (this is one of the elite universities in the nation after all!). Tubby Smith at Minnesota seems like he's good, but his best years might be behind him. Tom Izzo might be a great fit, I like how he has dominated the Big 10... he might be ready to move up.

Oh wait, thats right, this is SDSU, a bottom tier midcontinent conference (I'm sorry "summit") league school, located smack dab in the middle of what most of the nation regards as a frozen he!!, with the biggest nearby "major" city being sioux falls (pop. 120,000!!!). This state produces at most 2 legit D-I players a year (no, being recruited by NDSU, SDSU, USD etc. doesn't make them D-I). Not to mention Brookings is exactly what D-I players with other options are looking for these days. The school is mediocre in every respect, you have to drive to Minneapolis to get close to anything most people regard as civilization, and the facilities are average.

So those of you looking for a new coach... who exactly do you think is going to come here after Nagy? Nobody with a brain in their head is going to come to Brookings. Theres no recruiting base, nothing special to recruit to, low salaries, terrible weather, average at best academics... do I need to go on? This place is a death bed for coaches, and nobody is going to willingly walk into this, unless they have some outside reason (family nearby, near retirement age and looking for a challenge etc.).

Please, enlighten me as to who will be the next savior after you run a decent coach out of town? I dying to know what the brainiacs on here think. Otherwise, I suggest you shut up and except reality. SDSU is never going to be Gonzaga. Grow up.
Might be the worst post I have ever read... I won't say you should do anything with Nagy but if you don't think you can find a quality coach you are very mistaken.

You play at a nice arena, have a nice history, and Minnesota is right there for recruiting(It has to be about the biggest state with one DI school). There are plenty of talented kids in the region, Nagy found a few for the 2010 class.

Remember, only 347 guys can be a DI coach, and maybe a 100 are plum jobs. It is a very elite line of work.

Ah, what? I have no idea idea what you're trying to say in most of your error-filled rant. I'd prefer that Coach Nagy stay another season. If you're trying to defend him, you're making a a weak case for it.

If Cordova would of been playing, and the team just wouldn't of showed up I could understand being upset, it just seemed like the Jacks shots rimmed out and the IPFW's shots fell.... It wasn't like one team played better or worse....

This thread needs to be nominated for Epically Ridiculous On So Many Levels Thread Of The Decade (Or Of The Millennium So Far) Award.

If we had such an award here, of course.

We're deep into the depressive phase of the bipolar SDSU men's basketball fan cycle, it appears.

Instead of looking at the negatives, let's take a look at a couple of positives. 1) IPFW had more than double the TO's that we did ( i think we had 6 or 7, they had 15 or 16); 2) Palarca played a pretty good game; and 3) I thought Fiegen played a great game for a true freshman who hasn't had the most playing time this season - he played pretty good defense, was in on 2-4 blocks, and had some nice offensive moves as well. He takes what he learned this season and improves upon it next year, plus the return of all of our other players plus carlson, white, heemstra, and dykstra, and this team has the possibility of a great season.
