Well, sort of. The post states that, "For big markets (Top 30), the annual charge to stations is as high as $100,000." So, if they charge the NYC affiliate $100,000 and everyone else five bucks the statement is true. Now, I don't think that is the case, and I think most of what he says about how stations make money is true (thanks Mike H), if you read the post it basically is a somebody said that someone told them that someone else was told this about top 30 markets. Doesn't mean it isn't true, but it would seem to have little relevance as to why KWSN made any decision it did.

I don't think Rome is under a specific contract with either one. He can be found on a variety of radio stations. Doesn't he still have a TV show on ESPN?

While we are asking questions;

Whats the story with Dan Patrick? Did he get too big in his own mind for ESPN or did ESPN try to micromanage so he bolted for FOX? Was it a money issue or a "creativity" issue? Does he produce and host his show on FOX and ESPN wouldn't let him do that? Just curious if anyone knows the details.

I like both ESPN and FOX. FOX is much more about entertainment while ESPN sticks more to the reporting. Having both as an option is the best thing for the listener. I've got XM radio in the house and the vehicles but I'll catch the local shows once in awhile. I don't think an extra hour of Craig M. is a good idea but what do I know.

Is there any way Depot 910 can ramp up there coverage of Jacks sports since they are the home town station. How about a late afternoon call in talk show? I know Grant Peterson is an institution, but he is unlistenable for me.

Grant's program was moved from KJJQ 910 to KBRK 1430, both Brookings stations are owned by the same company. So that has the afternoon open on AM910 for something else like an local sports show. Since they have a morning show, I dont see them having two shows, but they might move to the PM possibly. I have no knowledge, not even rumors.

Grant Peterson seems to appeal to older listeners, but being 65 plus, I dont enjoy his program that much. Everyone on the show pays for their time so Grant is basically selling time, but trying to be folksy in the process. Other than Chuck Cecil and Bernie Hanoff and the SD Magazine, I really do not care too much for the show.

I believe the late John Wayne's last name was Morrison, so being in the media lime light you need a catchy name like Dan Patrick. So how many of us would pronounce PUGH properly? I venture not many.

Just to confirm ... I heard an on-air promo on the way to work for the local show and it does begin Monday.

Also heard Warren Spain's (sp?) local sports break, short headline items about the Twins, Stampede playoffs, Summit League economic impact and Canaries signings.

Love the clear FM signal! And -- if you know Sioux Falls radio -- the bigger "backyard" reference in their promos!

thats Warren Swain...he is an old friend and associate of mine. Just wanted you guys to know I enjoyed the Summit League Tourney as a fan and ticket buyer and LOVED THE JACKS...men and women. Also, love the campus and have enjoyed all my visits there. Frost Arena is one of the best basketball sites i have ever seen. Coach Nagy is one of the nicest people in sports and i know a fine coach...hang in there Coach! I even have a Jack jersey in my sports collection courtesy of Ron Lenz.
