While I can appreciate the concern (and believe me, I would love to see some signings as well), I can't help but wonder if the coaching staff is going to hold on to some of the available scholarships for next year's recruiting class.

If we land the AZ State kid, it would be a huge get at this stage. It seems like a bit of a long shot. I'm not sure why he would want to come here to compete with one of the best recruiting classes ever, seems like that's the kind of situation he was leaving in Arizona.

I think it would behoove all of us to temper our expectations with some perspective. This late in the recruiting process, who exactly do we think we would be getting? A JUCO or high schooler that was passed over by almost every other DI in the country.

I would rather bank the scholarship and get another Heemstra or Dykstra next fall than sign a reach JUCO. I think it would be better for the long-term success of the program. But that's just me.

At this point, we have enough guys to fill all the minutes of each game (if everybody stays healthy). More concerning are practice players who can push the primary players every day there isn't a game.

My guess would be that landing the player from ASU would be a long shot. But I think it would be beneficial to get him for the development of players like Heemstra and Dykstra. Here's a kid who has some Pac10 experience. He could be an upperclassman that helps develop those two. Even if Heemstra and Dykstra are very skilled/talented, they are still freshmen. Yes, I do believe freshmen can make positive impacts, but they are "unknowns" at the D1 level. We just don't know...yet.

I've also stated this before on this board but WE NEED MORE DEPTH. Yes, we can field a very good top __(fill in your own number) rotation of players. But we all know depth is key, especially if we're counting on freshmen (the unknowns). As SF_Rabbit_Fan stated above, "if everybody stays healthy". Well, it's a part of team sport that everybody does not stay healthy all season.

Terry V. mentioned in his blog yesterday that the elite boys basketball camp was going on at this time. Does anyone know any of the potential recruits that are on campus? Hopefully we can follow up the last two recruiting years with a solid 2011 class.

Roughly 80-100 kids are expected to attend. Maybe five of them already have scholarship offers from the Jacks.

TV expects at least 5 young men that we have already offered. Mitchell previously provided this list of 4:

          We have offers out to
PG Joel Lindberg - [6'2" 180] Superior, Wisconsin
          http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketb...indberg-110205
          No other offers

SG Josh Oglesby - [6'5" 175] Cedar Rapids, Iowa
          http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketb...Oglesby-105643
Has Offers From: Albany, Creighton, Indiana St, & UNI

SG Paul Jesperson - [6'7"] Merrill, Wisconsin
          http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketb...esperson-88940
Has Offers From: Arizona St, Butler, Colorado St, WI-Green Bay, Loyola, WI-Milwaukee, NDSU, UNI, & San Diego

PF Shelby Moats - [6'8" 225] Waconia, Minnesota
          http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketb...y-Moats-101375
Has Offers From: WI-Green Bay, WI-Milwaukee, & Utah
          ESPN GRADE = 92

Unsure if all these guys are at the camp and who else might be there that we have offered. Would be nice to get an update from TV or someone else.

Another name who is apparently has an offer is Darrius Vick 6'2 Guard Lincoln Nebraska. Some other names who show on Rivals as having interest from the Jacks in addition to the above cited include.

            Jake White 6'7 forward Chaska,Mn
            Alex Richter 6'5 forward Lakeville,Mn
            Marquel Curtis 6'2 guard Plymouth,Mn

I think Vick has an offer from us in football rather than basketball. His profile shows up on Rivals as both football and basketball but the video of him on the site is for football.

Jesperson is getting more interest from the Bigs. He will likely be a reach for the Rabbits. According to Sid at the StarTribune:

"The Gophers basketball team has offered a scholarship to Paul Jesperson, a 6-5 junior forward from Merrill, Wis. Gopher Illustrated reports Jesperson is the No. 1 recruit in Wisconsin for the class of 2011, the 30th-ranked small forward in the nation and the 132nd overall top recruit in the country."

Nice to see our sights our set high. Can anyone share those recruits who have offers and attended the elite camp this week. I can't imagine this is any kind of guarded secret.

I would be very interested in him for either. I watched Darrius play in two basketball games this year and he was impressive. I don't know how it would translate to a high level of D1 basketball, but the Class A guards in Nebraska could not stay with him.

Cedrick Lang, from SF OG, has been offered a scholarship by SDSU. He recently went to the UNI Elite Camp and turned down the Nebraska Elite Camp.

Seems like his stock is rising and good for SDSU on getting in early.

Did Lang go to the SDSU elite camp? If so, and he got his offer afterward, I'm curious how well he stacks up on defense. Nagy said that was going to be a focus for this year's camp.

And, frankly, SDSU could use some good post D---it's been a long time since we saw any. Kai was too lightly built, AC wasn't an every play defender, and before him, Ben Beran had a tendency to get into foul trouble.
