He played well........young freshmen playing against upperclassmen is like watching two year old race horses ....... you never know what to expect. As fatigue set in he made mistakes. Would like to see him defend better and develop more into a true point guard that handles and distributes first and looks to score second. That will come with more experience and confidence. Size and strength are also a factor. That will also come over time. Both freshmen played solid. Not sure what people want from 15 year olds (both are 15) but we were pleased with their performances both shot the ball poorly but again not concerned with the %..........was more concerned with the fact that they would shoot and they did.

I am planning on watching the schoolers play sometime this summer and plan on attending next years state AA's as it will be in R.C. I do attend my fair share of events I have seen the future rabbits from madison play 3 times this past year. As far as my comment about not knowing Cody Larson I was getting at I havn't heard anything about him in his high school career, Cadsev you should know that I did know that Cody Larson was on last years schoolers roster. Maybe after watching Cody play personally I will change my statement as Cody playing his way out of SDSU's hands but all I am getting at is don't be scared that he is playing his way out of SDSU's hands because he is getting looks by big-10 schools because all what they are looking at is a 14 year old 6-8 kid that could grow into a 7-0... yes they are going to keep there eyes out for him but I remember hearing that Cclton Iverson was getting looks by Oklahoma and other Big-12 schools and I havn't heard of any offers.
You make it far to easy to pick on you.....I have no idea what you are trying to say with this post.

Ok i'll simpifly it for you.... First I was stating that NO I have not seen Cody Larson playing, I then backed my point by saying that his stats were not impressive atleast D-I impressive (its hard to generate stats at AA's pace though). I said the main reason he is being looked at by Big 10 schools like Minnesota is because he is tall and still can grow.

I then said that I plan on watching him in the next year more then one time as in I will try to watch the schoolers play sometime this summer and I will try to watch SFR play next year at state aa's.

I then responded on your post quoting me saying that I don't know much about the schoolers and that i don't know much about Cody Larson... I said that I had not heard much about him this past season, I said that I had heard about him on last years schoolers team.

I then was responding to other posters on saying that Cody Larson has YET to outplay SDSU and reminded everybody that just because he is being looked at doesn't mean he is generating offers, I seem to remember hearing that Big 12 schools were looking at Colton Iverson but I don't remember hearing about any offers....

i know this sounds kind of confusing but come on cadsev I have faith in you to understand it.

Actually, I have to give you credit......that was the most concise and well written post to date on this board that you have written. My concern is that you often times write so much gibberish and it's hard to follow....plus you have many inconsistent posts. Futhermore you often times write as though you have seen athletes complete when in fact you haven't and your posts are based on hearsay.

Larson has not been offered by any high majors to date. He has received questionaires from many schools around the country........but thats just a small part of the recruiting process. It's not likely that he will receive any this summer but could see some next fall if he plays well this summer. This weekend he played well and is much improved over last summer and this past winter season. He is considered a high major prospect for more than just his size. He is skilled and talented. Plus he is nationally known more so than any other current SD HS athlete. He has 3 more summers and 3 more HS seasons to develop and is further ahead in the recruiting game than any other SD HS athlete to date. Unless he quits developing and doesn't improve any more I'd be surprised if he isn't a high major basketball player in four years. All freshmen who have been offered are offered on potential.....for all are better when they are seniors than they are their freshman year.

What would we do without Joeboo22? He seems to keep the knowledgeable posters such Cadsev on their toes. For that reason we see informative posts that we might not otherwise see. Keep up the good work Joe and I will also keep reading your blog. Its interesting.

Colton Iverson is playing with M33M Ballers (team from Memphis) this weekend in the Bob Gibbons Memorial Day Tournament of Champions. It's quite possible that his recruitment will take off after the exposure he'll receive this weekend in North Carolina. Jordan Miller is also playing with the M33M Ballers as well.

Add New Mexico to the list of schools who has offered Iverson. It gets much more difficult for SDSU to recruit him the more he is exposed at national events. By the end of the summer he'll have plenty of offers and schools to chose from on his list.

I have never watched Iverson play, but do know of his father and his career at USD. Also I believe an older sister played for the USD women. Absent the national exposure which Cadsev knows about, I think SDSU would still have a hard time convincing this young man to come to SDSU. Family ties and what have you seem to color his choice red and white and not yellow and blue. That's my opinion. Apparently he has been willing to take the time to talk to Coach Nagy, and maybe thats about all we can expect.

Good luck to Colton and I hope he does get a nice offer somewhere in the D1 world that fits his needs and also gets a great education in the process.

I watched Colton play his sophomore season it was his 1st or 2nd start he looked as if he couldn't walk and chew gum for the first half but really started to play in the second half. From what I hear the fact that USD is where his dad played won't affect anything... The Iversons are a very close family and would love to see Colton play college ball, Chuck coaches NAIA at Mt. Marty and alot of there games are Friday night, Saturday afternoon... If Colton was going to play at SDSU they would be able to catch alot of Colton's games... Also Colton's sister is really good friends with Ketty Cornamen.... If Colton doesn't go to SDSU it will be for other reasons then the fact Chuck was a legend at USDdd...

The Iversons are just plain great people.  One of the girls played for her dad at Mt Marty (I think she graduated this year) and the other is at USD with Lavin.  I know they really liked Tim Miles and NDSU.  It would be great to have Colton at SDSU.  The Yankton connection is strong and that would only bolster it further.  There are a lot of talented student athletes down here and a pipeline to SDSU should be supported.

I think SDSU has a better chance than some might imagine.  Time will tell.

Cassie has another year at MMC. There has been talk that Kara is considering a transfer from USD to MMC but will remain in Vermillion at least through next year which will be her Sophomore season. I don't think that USD has a chance with Colton no matter the family connection. I do know that he is planning an official visit to Colorado State but if the offers start to roll in after the summer season, he may change his mind and take some trips to upper level schools. Personally, I'd be surprised if he chose SDSU though I'd love it and I think it would be a great get for the Rabbits.

Kara redshirted or atleast that is what I was told... as far as Colton I hope he goes to SDSU but he is going to wait and see when all the offers come in and the family will make the decision on what will be the best situation. With CSU getting the transfer from Purdue I don't know if that would be the best fit for him...

I could not agree more, I too would like to see Coach Nagy sign Iverson, but after this summer as it has been suggested, he may have some fantastic offers.

What did work out like in D2, when we recruited a boarder line D1 athlete, you could end up down the road with an in transfer from the chosen school of the athlete. Remember Wallace and Schott? I think they were on the recruiting list before they chose NE Illinois. No guarentee this will work at the D1 level, but seems worth a try.

Many on here are not overly impressed with Dave Boots, but apparently he has always left the door open even after losing a recruit. Its worked for him as I believe he has in his career at USD has been able to snag quite a few D1 transfers going back to the current USF coach Murphy? A great number of them were ones that his staff had recruited hard.  Whether that will continue to work for Boots remains to be seen.  I personally think SDSU should not give up on Iverson, and just keep talking to him until he signs his letter of intent. At that point the NCAA rules say to stop recruiting and I expect Coach Nagy would do so.

Finally, probably the dad's legend does not count, but who knows. Its the Iverson's business and more specifically Colton's choice, and maybe Chuck is not as connected to USD as he was at one time such as being an assistant to Noel Martin, the guy who preceeded Dave Boots. The trip to Colorado State did not seem significant until I connected it with an earlier comment about Colton being in imrpessed Tim Miles.

As it applies to Colton, purely speculation on my part:

Unless he gets an offer from a midwest program in the Big 12 or Big 10 (i.e. NU, Ia. St, MN, Iowa, KU, K St.) I think it comes down to Colorado St. (because of Miles) or SDSU (because of proximity). Probably ought to add Creighton to the mix.

                              Again, purely speculation.

This past week-end at Bob Gibbons TOC, Iverson played with M33M team out of Memphis, coached by Ernie Kuyper (former Mitchell Kernel). Kuyper is the cousin to Mike Miller. Mike Miller's brother is Ryan Miller (former Mitchell Kernel/NSU fame), ass't coach at New Mexico. New Mexico is rumored to have offered Colton. I would not be surprised if you see him play with M33M again in the future.
