Gaskins prefaced his question saying that Stig left because Jimmy was being offered DC on Dickert's staff and Stig said something like "well, yeah" before expounding on the plan and discussions he had with President Dunn and Justin Sellvadvicating candidates on the list he provided be considered.

There was a timeline established six years ago. Stig said he was going to be done. Sell was made aware that he needed to start looking for a replacement, and ideally an SDSU man. It ended up being Jimmy, sure, but he wasn't forced out. He's been pretty candid about things lately. No reason to think he would be less than truthful about his retirement.

That is the most irritating part about this whole situation. Forces out our 20+ year head coach at the height of the program. Stays for two years then leaves with all of our coaches, a lot of top end recruits and players. After all of this our fan base is told to relax by media and other fan bases because it is happening everywhere.
I still don't like the way Jimmy left but the more I think about it, I think the biggest driver is/was getting paid now, while still being able to get paid. A lot has been said about FBS coaches and the golden age of HC salaries being over. With an increase of scholarships from 85 to 105 (an easy $1 million increase at most schools operationally) and revenue sharing, athletic departments are going to have to claw that money back somewhere. Particularly at the G6 level where there is relatively little money from media rights. 2, 3, 4 years from now, salaries at G6 schools are very likely to be 6 figures, not 7 (WSU, for instance, is reducing its athletics budget for 25/26 from $84 million to $75 million and Jimmy is make $1 million less than his predecessor each year. There was also talk of reducing scholarships from 85 to 79 before committing to max scholarships). And it is highly unlikely, no matter the success Jimmy would have had here, that he would get hired at a P4 school (Klieman at KSU is an outlier, the AD in Manhatten being his former AD in North Fargo). There's going to be a big rearrangement in athletic department budgets as a result the House Settlement and for young, aspiring coaches, now is the time to get paid.

Rogers inherited a Jaguar and is stripping off parts as he leaves. It's hard to watch.
