Jimmy gets $3M base salary plus some possible performance bonuses. But the $4M buyout of his WSU contract will come out of his salary. That's the first time that I have heard of this happening. Maybe it happens more often, but isn't made public.

Other than the ongoing ISU dialogue, Jimmy didn't have time to recruit the staff, players and recruits while still on the payroll in Pullman prior to announcing like he did here. Remarkably, Wazzu appears to be letting future ISU staff stay on to coach the team through the bowl game. Is the Honor System really a thing they believe in? Did they not see what happened here last year? Unless the existing staff contractually reaffirmed their commitment to WSU, I'd have sent all those scoundrels out the door the minute I knew Narcijimmy was leaving.

If none of the former coaching staff stay in Pullman, it's hard to imagine a lot of the players staying.
There's an interesting account of the staff and player meetings that transpired after Rogers got the Cyclones gig. On the one hand, it sounds like he often mentioned a connection with Pollard to assistant coaches, that Pollard "constantly texted Rogers," and chance he'd get hired if Campbell ever left.

On the other hand, it sounds like staff and players were still surprised.

For as much as FCS is mentioned as a coaching "proving ground" and feeder for FBS, WSU has seen more turnover than SDSU.

That's pretty much what I said. While those young guys were highly regarded from an FCS and maybe G6 stand point, there's a reason they weren't recruited by Big 12 schools to begin with. If Jimmy needs bodies, they'll be asked to Ames. But if you're a kid that was first recruited to Brookings to the loyalty/brotherhood schtick, and then to Wazzu, and then to Ames, are you buying it anymore? My guess is the pitch is going to be a lot harder for Narcijimmy to sell. A lot of these guys are going to be looking elsewhere.

The answer is probably "no" but the other consideration will be what kind of roster Jimmy has in Ames. How many current Clones will portal? What does a recruiting class look like?

the thing that might be interesting about this is which of the Jacks who left will be leaving washington and will any consider a return to brookings? how many will get invited to stay with the lying weasel who clearly only uses words like family, brotherhood, and loyalty as part of a totally dishonest story to manipulate good people who actually DO care about those things to help him get what he wants

off the top of my head, I guess Shlimgen goes along to isu. i would also guess none of the RBs get the option of going. i would have to do some research to see how many players have eligibility left

The Washington State write-ups indicate that Jimmy openly talked with staff that if Cambell ever left Ames they'd have a real good shot at the job. Disgusting.

It all makes more sense. Pollard told Jimmy he needed to get a G5 job to get an Iowa State job. I wondered why he'd take a crappy job that guys like Vigenn would turn down. He was looking even further ahead. Jimmy's heart was never in Brookings. It was never in Pullman. Is it in Ames?

If I'm a coach recruiting against Jimmy it's pretty easy to point out that there isn't an ounce of sincerety in Jimmy and his loyalty, brotherhood, no BS schtick. But maybe recruits just assume that out of FB coaches these days. Lying narcissists. Yuck.

I hope all the Wazzu Jacks that followed him to Pullman have him a middle finger salute as his plane jetted off to Ames yesterday.

NW isn't the best B1G job by any means but B1G schools can pay coordinators and players better than Big 12. But who knows?

Jamie Pollard's entire interview following Matt Campbell's departure and the hiring of Jimmy Rogers.

I think the coach at Sacramento St left because the move to FBS is collapsing. I don't know why anyone, coach or player, would want to jump into that dumpster fire.

IMHO, SDSU promoted the wrong coordinator to replace Stigs. Water under the bridge.

I'm a bit more sanguine than another poster regarding Rogers recruiting in the region. A head coach that has been at 3 schools in 3 yrs may not be entirely appealing unless the current program has deep pockets. ISU does not. And look at the mess he has left in his wake.

I do agree with the comment on Freund, clueless. Mishandled Gronowski.
