Rogers to WSU - next man up

Who will be next head coach? Add your suggestions here? It is unfortunate that administration didn't get moving on the NIL - otherwise the staff may have stayed.

Shannon Moore, Eric Eidness, Clint Brown, Josh Conklin,

      Riggs is my first choice.
      Lujan 2nd.
      Eck?

Doesn't the NIL collective thing have to be organized outside of the University ?

Lujan, Roehl, Bobbit. I want someone with organ pedigree or FCS championship caliber pedigree.

Would Roehl do it to mother-f+++ NDSU for getting passed over even if it's for the hated Jackrabbits? His ISU salary is $350k.

I would hope we could get close to Lujan's reported salary at NW. 400k in Brookings might be about equivalent to 500k in Evanston. Would he come back? Is it possible he feels passed over? He could hopefully keep the returning offense intact.

Bobbit is young but he coaches the strength of this team and could hopefully keep the best part of this team together.

I'm not excited by the DII guys or Riggs. Bergstrom isn't setting the world on fire in the NSIC. The Augie guy - maybe but no FCS experience and not an SDSU guy. Riggs. Has he coached 11 man football in the last decade?

Dan Jackson has been bandied about but he was demoted at Vanderbilt. Some controversy there. And Idaho's defense wasn't great this year.

Can't see a reason for Eck to "leave" his new gig already

Yes, they can be "affiliated" with the university, but, for instance, SDSU staff couldn't donate or work for the collective, which would seemingly end McKnight's position in Economics Dept.

I see Roger’s reported new salary will be 1.57 million for five years. This is probably over million dollars more tan he’s making now. Probably would take 12 years plus the five years to make equal amount of money. If he takes other coaches probably for them equal size in pay increases for them. fCS is not only farm system for p 4&5 schools for players but also feeder system on up and coming coaches. I can’t blame coaches or players for leaving because of money that is being offered is life changing.

Riggs intrigues me due to the regional connections he has. He also has considerable media connections, which I suppose could be seen as detrimental.

I'm surprised how much traction Roehl is getting. I understand the argument about Riggs' lack of recent 11-man coaching experience, but were the Roehl proponents that impressed with his playcalling when he was with Bison (or is the rationale that the issues on offense were due to Entz overruling Roehl)?

An interesting counter to that, including a comparison to other Pac coaches is offered here. The argument could be made that the Pac is a farm system too, but the question is will Rogers betting the farm on this likely interim gig pay off if the new WSU Admin. opts to stifle investment in football/athletics.

Already forgot he got the new gig. If still at Idaho I could see it as a better option.

What about Eidness HC and Meadows OC?

Or does Sell go outside the box?

Riggs I thought was an outside contender for OC when Lujan left.

Right now with the camps he runs and connections he has I think could really be a surprise but great choice.

The JI pod brought up Eidsness' ability to adapt offense to personnel, which I appreciated when he was here, so I'd definitely support that if Sell wants to hire from "Stig's coaching tree."

Riggs is my first choice if Jacks want to "branch out"

I'd mentioned McKnight's leadership of collective also being mentioned on JI pod. I think that's key in that it personalizes the collective. The 605 website had generic email, PO Box, etc., so I can't blame folks for balking at donating to that.

Folks might think his Academy involves specialized player, and sometimes parent, interactions, but he mentioned 'Yotes' Coach Nielson presenting to parents at Academy regarding recruiting during most recent Happy Hour episode, so I'd say he has a relatively comprehensive perspective on the process that even some current FBS coordinators could lack.
