Article on 247 indicated they expected the following to return:
    • Reece Sylvester
    • Leyton Smithson
    • Hunter Haines
    • Tyson Weaver
The following were listed as signees:
    • Aiden Knapke
    • Kyle Peterson
    • Jamarey Smith
    • Gaylon McNeal, Jr.
One wonders what team chemistry will be like leading up to Spring Ball. You'd have to think at least 3-4 safeties will be in portal by summer.

You have to think that Wazzu returning players sharing positions with any of our guys are going to be skeptical about getting a fair shake.

I'm not ready to go that far. Who knows what's being promised and whether some decisions are being made by players to try to help their families.

Having said that, anyone who stays will gain a foothold on my list of "respected" Jacks. It'd be really cool if Jacks alums, including some in NFL, came back for Spring Game

I tend to agree. Too bad WSU doesn't play Colorado next season. It could be dubbed the Portal Bowl.

I am going to be very conflicted about whether to root for Vandals in WSU's home opener on 8/30

boy, you would think if he has even a bit of wisdom or common sense, some things seem pretty obvious. at WSU it is very possible he is #3. I think he could pass those guys but he also might not!! if he stays a LOT LOT closer to home, he is the clear favorite to be the #1 guy. also seeming pretty likely to have an OC who has already coached MULTIPLE 2000 yard rushers. why would you pass that up to go to Pullman. VERY hard to imagine they can be giving away BIG money to THREE RBs, so i really really doubt it can be for the money!! if they are, it seems to me donors might question the wisdom of how the money is being spent

It's an FBS backwater. There's a reason why the xDSUs are successful in getting 3* with offers from G6 schools and even P4 schools to come to Brookings, etc. The guys going to Wazzu are making at best a lateral move IMHO with the big exception being that they have played their last meaningful game.
completely agree, OR is the roto rooter toilet bowl a meaningful game? imagine the rings they give away for that game

I know that Iowa does get consistently into the rankings. that said when is the last time they won a big game? they never beat any of the top BIG 10 teams. they dont win meaningful bowl games

for all but maybe a tiny few this seems incredibly unlikely. first they are making it very difficult for family to attend games. for a kid from Omaha (for example) parents can get to home games in about 3.5 hours. road games- Vermillion less than 2 hours, Fargo 5.5 - 6 hours, G Forks 7 - 7.5 hours, Cedar Rapids? 5- 6 hours

for home games at Pullman NOT EASY, road conference games? NOT EASY

life changing money? if they take 3 RBS and 4 safeties are they giving life changing money to all of them? the answer seems obviously not. of the players rumored to be going, WHO might they give big money to? I would guess Tucker could be getting decent money but nothing close to what was offered to Kraft and / or Gronowski. Francl?? again nothing close to what other of our players have been offered... AND STAYED

if they are not getting quite a bit over 100k they will eat up a BIG % of the money just flying mom and dad to all the games

Some gorgeous country around there, but around Pullman, it's pretty bleak.

I guess he can always do what some NFL players do and take classes in offseason
If all he wanted to do is go to the NFL, doubtful Northwestern would be the choice. Seems a smart guy with an elite opportunity would pick a smart school because they want a decent future past football.
He'll need 2 seasons at Northwestern to go to the NFL, that would leave him with a semester left.

Why would he go all the way to Pullman WA to be used as a returner only? If that was what he is after, he could have gone to a P4 and gotten noticed. My guess is that he intends to start, same with Vorhees and Woods, only problem, there will only be two backs who get carries and there is absolutely no guarantee either or any of the three end up as #1. Rogers and company will likely bring in more competition and there are still some backs on that roster. Some who are leaving may end up regretting the choice they have made. Come spring portal they could be looking again.

That'd assume Northwestern would allow full transfer of SDSU credits

Not disputing your logic regarding the caliber of the institution. As for the athletic considerations, if he can approximate production he's had here vs Big 10, that improves draft stock.

Granted, Wildcats aren't known for WR draftees, but maybe he figured NIL and history with Lujan was worth gamble

Not solely as a returner, and I doubt Vorhees will be every down back either.

While I wouldn't "buy" someone trying to sell that depth chart if I were contemplating a transfer, maybe a slight position change was discussed; for instance, Vorhees moving to more of an H-back

Their 2025 schedule includes games on East Coast and Texas, etc., and maybe the families prioritize games airing on CBS, Fox, etc vs ESPN+ due to theoretically broader national coverage
