That said, I'm pretty damn encouraged by all the tweets today from players who are affirming their commitment to SDSU along with alums who have stepped up to encourage players to stay in Brookings. Many of them played under Jimmy the last few years.
i have to believe there are plenty of players who have played for Jimmy that feel betrayed by this. think about Tucker and the Jankes and every other player who stayed when they had chances to think about the potential of greener grass. it is hard to imagine that this does not feel like a slap in the face

PERFECTLY said!! OF COURSE some of his guys will have interest in going with him. no brainer!!!! but there is a correct way to do that and Jimmy knows better. i have to believe these are just rumors. if these rumors prove true it seems he may not be the person that I have always believed him to be. i am VERY frustrated with him but i am not ready to believe he would do something like this

i have defended Jimmy in EVERY single instance, but you will get no talk of being offended from me. the day will come when I will once again be wishing the best for Jimmy. but GREAT care was taken to hand him this program in the best possible position

those efforts have been disrespected. i did not expect him to stay for 20 years but he has talked loud and often about bleeding yellow and blue. the way he has gone about this has ACTIVELY harmed the program and there is zero chance he does not realize that

if he is also actively recruiting players on the way out the door that just does more damage. honestly he should have been banished from all the facilities the second there was a sniff of this. someone can pack his office for him. i would NEVER expect we would stop players who want to talk to him from talking to him!!! they have a relationship that is undeniable!!! but we should not make it easy for him to sit in SDSU facilities and recruit our players either

It's certainly possible the right guy could reel both these guys back in. Probably easier to get Hawthorne back than Ostrowski since he was already here.

Hopefully the guys that are staying are reaching out to the recruiting class too.

This is something I'd like to see talked about more -- the chance for us as fans to rally around those who stay (and not wasting time disparaging those who leave)

It is encouraging, yes. However, the next days and weeks will be a bit like a long election night, waiting for returns to come in from critical precincts. Not hearing a lot from the biggest names yet.

I remember reading an article from a recruit that committed to UNLV after TJ left. He commented that while TJ was still employed by SDSU he would tell him "I want you to play for me next year no matter where I am coaching". I will never forget how bad that rubbed me that he was using SDSU resources while SDSU was paying his salary to recruit players to play for him and not SDSU.
