If what we are hearing is true, my opinion of Rogers just went way down .
Your post prompted an interesting counterfactual that has the added benefit of increasing my angst toward the Mange, despite the fruitlessness of this hypothetical. How much more likely do you think it is we're talking about Vigen taking the job if USD had won in Bozeman?

Also, I'm pulling for y'all vs. Bison

WHY? for money? there is a whole lot more to life. if you cannot live a wildly comfortable life for 400k per year you really really need to rethink your priorities

was it something else? were the expectations too much? for his first 2 years as an HC the expectation was a NC. he is now leaving for a job where there will never be an expectation to win another one. maybe that will be a lot easier. so much for all his talk about the standard
I don't know enough about anyone's motives to judge them for leaving, although I agree re. $400k being more than enough. I must admit I put too much stock in Rogers' wife being from the area as a reason he might stay longer.

Regardless of other coaches' and players' motives for leaving, this situation makes me appreciate players who stayed even after being offered considerable NIL sums and coaches like Stig and AJ.

Maybe it was just because he viewed the Washington St position as a promotion and a chance to get to his ultimate goal?

We all wish Jimmy would have stuck around longer but I think most of us knew that he wasn’t going to be Stig and this was going to be his only HC position.

My only issue is that he completely decimated the program on his way out the door.

If Stig encouraged Josh Davis to take a job at JSD I doubt he harbors any ill will towards Jimmy for taking the Wazzu job, nor should he.

Probably not. Looked like 2019 was his last year here. Saw in his bio that he played here. Didn't know that, just knew that he coached here for a number of years.

We no doubt will lose players, but Zimmer doesn't have a much better idea of how many than we do. Just last week he screwed up on a couple of seniors who were coming back. I don't think he has personal contacts with a lot of players.

This is my only gripe as well

Can't blame Rogers for leaving, but he's not headed to a great situation.
They may not have wanted to wait 10 days for an answer and an announcement. And you couldn't blame Vigen for not wanting to blow a shot at a title.
