Angel played at SDSU for 4 years and won 2 rings the NFL probably isn’t in his future so if he can go get paid for one last year good for him. Hopefully he has success and next year is everything he wants it to be.

How do you know he didn’t? Maybe they aren’t getting any money. If they weren’t getting any money here than it wouldn’t matter that there might not be getting any money there. Maybe they just want to stay with their coach.

Do you think they can’t put two and two together and think to themselves…wow there aren’t any running backs left here maybe I should stay but still decided to leave? They aren’t robots. They all have family and friends besides Jimmy and their position coaches who they talked to to make this decision. Again I’m not thrilled with the players leaving but it’s not like Jimmy blindfolded them and kidnapped them against their will.

Jacks just offered Cam Dome out of Iowa Western. He tagged Dalton Thomas (twitter), so that's basically official that he's on staff. Means all the people Dalton has been on has been on the Jacks behalf.

The same can be said for coaches like Isaiah Davis if there's anything to his SDSU player follows listed in the other thread. He's been going after punters and kickers including a sac state kicker who hits 70% of his fgs, 10% more than Dustman. Not sure he has had to experience Brookings conditions though,

The new advantage of recruiting JUCO players after the recent court ruling is that JUCO years do not count against against eligibility at four year schools. So basically you can play two JUCO seasons and still go on and play four more.

In the case of 2, they are going a long way from home for a "promise" of playing time which I don't believe can be kept. WSU has a pretty deep group of young running backs returning, include a big kid who will be red shirt sophomore who had almost 400 yards, 5.4 per carry, who looks to be the top returner. I get the defensive players, and even Angel since he likely is getting some money, but both Vorhees and Woods is really strange. One, or both need to be prepared to possibly spend a lot of time on the bench.

They are going a long way from home but obviously that’s not a huge deal to them or their families otherwise they wouldn’t be going. The didn’t commit to Jimmy not knowing where Pullman Washington is. For me personally I would not want to go halfway across the country but obviously they do not care. How many games did woods/angels family watch in person this year? If they watched them on tv already why does it matter if that tv signal is coming from brookings or Pullman?

He might but he might not and woods could be the starter for a couple years after being a rotational piece and have a great career with the coach who recruited him and got him to flip from the bison. Most players commit to the coach not school. I don’t like that Roger’s is taking some of our top talent either but he also has to go win games to keep his job and if our players that he recruited/coached/built relationships are better than the ones he is inheriting it’s not a huge surprise they are going.

I looked at their running back room to see how crowded it was. They had 8 rbs on the roster last year. The startet and freshman of the year transferred before their bowl game so that leaves 7.

2 are redshirt juniors. One of those 2 hasn’t played a snap in his 5 years there. The other tore his ACL in October

1 is a redshirt sophomore who played in 11 games this year and had 43 carries 12 games last year with 33 carries

2 redshirt freshman. One hasn’t played in his 2 years and one played in all 13 games but only had 65 carries

2 freshman who both redshirted.

Angle had 91 carries
vorhees had 75
Woods had 29 in his redshirt season

If I’m those 3 there isn’t a RB left on that roster that I think will play in front of me. There isn’t an established one and you already have a leg up because you have been in the offense and around the coaches.

I understand all of that! They still could easily recruit over and above them though as Jimmy has to win! I don’t know what promises were made either and what the expectations the young men have. If I were them, I would be concerned about the quality of the OL compared to the competition they play against. It looks like the Jacks OL is going to remain largely in place and the OL recruits are still on board except one. Reading the Washington State media and it looks to me like Jimmy is going to be spending a lot of his time raising $$$$$. Not sure if that’s his forte. I can’t imagine the Jacks not finding a few quality backs that want to run behind the 605 hogs.

yes, this makes absolutely zero sense. honestly it is just stupid on the part of the players. one of them will be no more than #3 at best assuming zero competition from players already at WSU. one of them would have been runaway leader in the clubhouse to be #1 here and instead of playing for an OC with no history of producing an exceptional RB they could be likely playing for an OC with history of many 1000 yard rushers and multiple 2000 yard rushers

just stupid. also a stupid use of recruiting dollars to pay money to a #3 RB. and finally if Jimmy cared at all about SDSU he could not explain to ANY of these RBs that they would have a much better shot for quality touches by staying at SDSU? he absolutely had to empty the cupboard of any player with any meaningful carries? i am trying very hard not to be mad at Jimmy and i am sure I will get there but WOW oh WOW he is making it difficult

you are correct, I would be excited to have them
BUT, I also assume we have limited resources and I would have said if we were paying people, we probably could spend the money more wisely than giving it to 3 players at the same position and at a position where is is beyond unusual for 3 players to get meaningful usage. it would be different if they were at almost any other position

ALSO, I would have completely expected it was possible that one of them might leave. and another difference with them HERE is that 2 of them were close or very close to home and it was easy or very easy for family to see them play or spend time with them
