We also finished 6-5 that year.... This is like citing how SDSU got wiped out by the 6-5 Cal Poly (Big Sky team) 48-14 back in 2011.

The past is irrelevant and both teams are much better than 2011. I hope a lot of Jackrabbit fans make it up to Cheney. I do hear a lot of complaints about our field on television, but I've also heard that it looks much better once the sun is down and the stadium lights are on. The fans and players LOVE the red turf, though. Even through all the ridicule we get throughout the FCS.

The biggest sin is playing on turf. The magenta or aqua or whatever the hell they call the exotic colors just add to the abomination.

Thank god people will still have something complain about with the new stadium.

You have to remember that the players are recruited when they are 17-18 years old. They are just kids from a generation drawn to visual stimuli and uniqueness. Many are striving for individuality and many to leave their mark. This is why red turf can be exciting to a young athlete, but not an old football fan

So you must be an old football fan. You don't suppose a free education enters their thoughts! Now does it?

So as a EWU fan how do you imagine this game playing out ?

For fans near Watertown: KSDR Radio (AM 1480) is listed as one of the Jackrabbit-network affiliates but sometimes it does not carry the games. Today I heard the station promoting the Jackrabbits at EWU game...KSDR will pick up the WNAX feed: pre-game at 2:30 followed by the game at 3:00. Good to hear the game being promoted in this area. WNAX comes in pretty strong in Watertown but with two laptops going along with the big screen, the WNAX signal is subject to signal interference in my house (we'll have the ESPN3 'broadcast' on the big screen using Chromecast but we like to have Tyler's audio to go with the ESPN video). Having the clear signal of a local connection is appreciated.

When in Rapid City last weekend, we saw a sign in Rapid advertising the SDSU at NAU game on a local station. Having a strong radio network in the state is part of the process of building the brand name.

Oh certainly! The conversation, however, is why a red turf would play a role in which free education the athlete would choose. :P

I see this game playing out as a score for score game in the first half. Our powerful offense will trump your above average defense and your good offense will overpower our below average defense. SDSU will do a great job at eating up the clock, so I expect EWU to put up less points then usual. Possibly even under 30 points (has only happened once this year versus Toledo).

In an offensive battle, I think EWU perseveres. It's just our style, and I am confident in my team. If we lose, I will more than happily come back to your board to eat my crow. I don't think either team is equipped to efficiently stop the other team's offense. SDSU may or may not be able to control the clock, but not being able to score for four minutes is also a huge disadvantage when you are facing a team which scores in 30 seconds. Just my two cents. And yes, I am wearing red colored glasses

Although I agree with this statement, I also look at the state of our field and it is a sorry lot. Sure the weather and BHS tear it up but, the crown is uneven and with good weather there still are thin and/or bare spots. Each end zone looks to have dips in the corners(at least from my vantage point). How great would it be if some ag or turf company sponsored a real field and all it's required maintenance. Maintenance is the costly part. I'm all for real grass just don't think it's a good prospect.

I'm curious to hear a Big Sky fan's perspective on the Big Sky thumbing their noses at SDSU and NDSU when we were coming through transition and looking for a home. Did it register on your radar that it could be a good thing or was it just too foreign of a thought for everyone to support?

This was before my time, so I don't know much about this topic. It would have been great if SDSU and/or NDSU would have been in our conference. Did a little digging, and this is all I could find.

I don't know anything about SDSU as an academic institution, so I can't say for sure if this held weight in the board's decision. I would have much rather seen SDSU in the Big Sky over Northern Colorado, hahaha.

I don't know the thought process' of the administrators then or now for that matter. I do know I am not too crazy about the state of the Big Sky at this time. We do not have enough teams to have two divisions and a championship game like some FBS conferences do yet we do not play every team in the conference either. IMO we were better off before the expansion.
