Is there an end date for the signing period that starts next week ? I think seniors can accept a scholarship any time from the 15th until school starts next fall. The early signing period next fall is for the 11/12 season.

Yes, the late signing period pretty much goes until school starts next year. I think there actually is a technical end date but that would only stop you from signing the actual National Letter of Intent. After that date you can still accept a scholarship offer though.

Would not be surprised if AnnMarie Brown of St Peter is our next commit. As reported earlier by TV she has visited Brookings and seems to fit the mold of players we are getting 6"0 + and can play inside and out.

I don't have any information, but I wouldn't be surprised if we get another 2011 commitment soon because with there potentially only being one more scholarship left for that group, someone will jump on it. I understand another may be available with Vanessa leaving, but I truly believe that the Clarin verbal will speed up the process for other recruits who have an offer.

You would think that there is a need to bring in at least one true post player with one of the scholarships.

Perhaps we will stay in Minnesota and are looking at one or all of these post players?

Some other area players who may be on the radar and have some post size:

Mercede Stotesbery Sioux Falls Washington 6'2
                  Lindsey Johnson Harrisburg 6'2
                  Christa Paul Madison 6'4

She's no Britney Griner,no doubt ,but as much as the NCAA selection commitee likes to put us up against a top big 12 team each year, maybe we could at least put someone gaurding her ,her own size at least...if we are fortunate enough to go to the dance again,&again.I'm sure she would be thouroughly scouted like all our players are, before a scholarship is offered. You ask a legit question though, since she's playing junior college ball & not facing the kind of competition we'd likely face.I don't think anyone would care if they are a junior college player or not,if they are good enough ,being as we just brought in a juco for the mens team.

Looking at her stats, she shot 59 % from the field - with that height though, you would think she would get more than 5 1/2 boards per game.

I know a young lady who played against her during the last season. She is suspicious of the accuracy of the height measurement, says she is a poor rebounder and seems afraid to get physical. This is only one six footer's opinion of her, but it is enought to suggest that there is a reason for her playing in a JUCO situation.

I seen her play against Chadron State, a Division II school, in an open pre-season scrimmage and she blocked many shots and scored many baskets. If I recall, she scored many baskets off of rebounds and put backs. Noone on Chadron's team was on her level. She did look a little hesitant at times but she has one more season to continue to develop. If a coach like A.J. could build her confidence, she could be a "beast" on the boards. She looked like a legit 6'7" to me with a long wing span. I think her height alone gives unfair expectiations, whereas if she isn't putting up 20 and 15 a game, she isn't good. She could give some solid minutes and depth in the Summit League and possibly even a starter if she learned the right system quick enough. She plays for Western Nebraska, and they have a somewhat similar rotation to SDSU.

Rachel Walters, jacks recruit,is having a good Dakota Showcase tournement after pool play. She's leading in the category's "most pts scored by an individual in a single game" at 32.
Rachel's 2nd,although she's played one less game than the leader Peoples who has 12 (Rachel has 11 in 3 games) in the category "most 3 pts. made by individual in the tournement.
Pre- tourney record 25 set by Deb Remmerde.
Tied with Peoples (again, played one less game ) at 68 each for "most points scored by an individual in the tournement".
"Average 3 pts made by an individual for the tournement",she leads at 3.67 per game.
She leads in "Avg pts scored by an individual in the tournement" scoring at a 22.67 ppg.Deb Remmerde has the pre-tourney record at 28ppg.
