Thanks for the correction!  I have changed the link on my posts.

              83 is a lot better than 103

I also noticed that the Dolphin Rating has changed from this morning. It is now 86 from 88.

              Must have realized their error? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

The Sagarin rating currently rates the SDSU women 84 with a power rating of 76.11.

That is good enough to place them #1 in all of the following conferences:

                      1.   Independents
                      2.   West Coast
                      3.   South Western
                      4.   Southland
                      5.   Patriot League
                      6.   Ohio Valley
                      7.   North East
                      8.   Mideastern Athletic
                      9.   Mid Continent
                      10. Metro Atlantic
                      11. Ivy League
                      12. Big West
                      13. Big South
                      14. Big Sky
                      15. Atlantic Sun

That means that there will be at least 14 teams in the big dance that are rated lower than our Jackrabbits! Let's hope it qualifies us to at least get an invite to the WNIT.

                            Hokay, Filbert's Bracketology, Mark II:

What has to happen for SDSU to make the WNIT (working off of this week's RPI):

Root for the following to win their conference tournaments:
                            Montana in the Big Sky
                            Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the Horizon
                            Dartmouth in the Ivy
                            Marist in the Metro Atlantic
                            Western Illinois in the Mid-Con
Tennessee Tech in the Ohio Valley
Stephen F. Austin in the Southland

Root for the following to lose the rest of their games (.500 or below and need to stay that way):
Arkansas St (13-14, vs. Troy and Sun Belt tournament)
Auburn (13-14, vs. South Carolina in SEC tournament)
Georgia Tech (13-14, at Miami, and ACC tournament)
Missouri State (14-14, vs Wichita St. and MVC tournament)
Arkansas (13-14, Mississippi in SEC Tournament)
Oregon (14-14, Arizona in Pac-10 Tournament)

Hope the WNIT selection committee picks us as one of, say, ten final entrants into the WNIT along with:
                            Rice, CUSA, 15-12
                            Evansville, Valley, 15-10
                            Wisconsin-Green Bay, Horizon, 22-5
                            North Texas, Sun Belt, 19-8
                            Hawaii, WAC, 17-8
                            Kansas, Big XII, 16-10
                            Drake, Valley, 15-10
                            William & Mary, Colonial, 15-11
                            Princeton, Ivy, 18-6
                            Oregon State, Pac-10, 14-13
                            Samford, Ohio Valley, 20-7
                            Texas-Arlington, Southland, 18-7
Southeast Missouri St., Ohio Valley, 19-8
                            Kent State, MAC, 18-8
                            Iona, Metro Athletic, 16-11
                            Northern Arizona, Big Sky, 18-9
                            Binghampton, America East, 14-11

This should give you more than enough teams to root against in the next week or two . . . ;D

Heres something I found that might be of interest:

                                February 17, 2006
                                The NCAA News

The NCAA’s National Invitation Tournament Selection Committee has decided to guarantee regular-season conference champions a berth in the postseason as a way to assure quality and integrity in the selection process.

The NIT Selection Committee conducted its inaugural meeting in Atlanta in late January and ratified initial selection procedures that will be used in conjunction with this year’s postseason event.

As a result, the regular-season champion from each of the 31 Division I conferences will now be guaranteed a postseason berth with the newly created automatic qualifier to the NIT Postseason, in the event the team is not otherwise in the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship.

“The committee was unanimous in its view on this matter,” said committee Chair C.M. Newton. “It formalizes what postseason basketball should be – a reward for success throughout the regular season.”

The committee also decided that a winning record would not be a prerequisite for teams to qualify for the postseason tournament.
