SDSU- 30-4, yep THIRTY and 4
ranked in both polls to end the season
returning 4 players with significant PT including 2 starters
been to TWELVE NCAA in the last 15 years including 3 in a row

and I do believe we have reached the point that if AJ believes someone is the correct fit that we do have at least a little money to put in the pot

clearly EVERY player will have their own priorities, but I dont think it is all that hard to find some players that would be interested in joining a 30 win team that has more than a legit shot to go to the NCAA EVERY year. I think the other piece of the puzzle is that it is pretty clear that AJ aint just throwing the net out there and taking the first 6'3+ girl to come along. the fit matters to him

finally, I would be incredibly curious to know the thought process on this one. that seems like a rather tough sell to me. how good was the cash and if cash is THE priority was there not a single other school that could offer cash that was close that would seem to have a much better shot at going to the NCAA next year?

I won’t disagree with anything you said. In fact I agree with all of it and in fact I thought we had a chance with this one! But, what we do know is she choose Kansas. What we don’t know is if AJ was even interested in her and if he was, what we offered compare to what Kansas offered. I also am pretty sure that Kansas doesn’t want to be the cellar dweller of their conference for long. A 6’3” post player is exactly what they needed to improve their chances and given what some of the top players in the other P4 conferences are getting, she could be getting 6 figures plus. That is going to be very difficult for the Jack’s to compete with. Impossible, no, but it’s going to get more and more difficult. In addition the way the NET rankings are being used for NCAA tournament selections, you just have to be a little over .500 and the strength of the P4 conference gets you into the tournament while it looks more and more like the Jacks could go undefeated in conference and if they lost the championship game, we might be out of the tournament. All of that structural bias puts a lot of incentive for not just players to move up, but coaches too!

Reading the IU page, I will bet dollars to doughnuts she isn't getting six figures. They estimated about zero. That is all conjecture though. They weren't overly sorry to see her leave, just sayin.

I have zero idea and I doubt she is either, but the top players certainly are. I am saying, that for the Jack’s to pull a top end post player out of the portal, it’s not going to be easy. I am not sure if she could have done us a lot of good then either if she isn’t getting some good NIL $. Just as well as develop one of the young players for the future. In AJ I trust!

          • Have we ever had a rim protector type, so that we don't have to double team inside defending against a P-4 sky scraper, leaving a perimeter player wide open? Mesa turned out for us in a big way, but was just 6'2", as is Brooklyn, Ober was very physical and 6'2", I believe Sunnerborg (sp?) was the only reason we beat Missouri on the road as a FR when we went 32 wins in 08/09. Everyone else couldn't hit a thing, we barely squeaked that one out, she was 6'2' , almost all our great posts were no taller than 6'2, was Bultsma 6'3", she was pretty good her later years. Being tall and good is very hard to find as they all get gobbled up by wealthier/ bigger schools. I have high hopes for and some expectations for Felchie , that she can develop like Bultsma did. Not that 6'2" is small, but most of the ranked teams ROUTINELY have taller posts and it's just unfair to expect our 6'2" post to stop all of them the whole game long, but one we have scores on them a lot , Brooklyn, that evens things out some. Sorry if I missed mentioning any of our other very good posts, in an effort to keep this post reasonably short. We have been very successful against many P-4 teams though, like Baylor already mentioned by a poster, in the LAS VEGAS South Point Shootout Tournament , even in our League like WNBA player Vickey MacIntyre of ORU.Someday one will slip through the cracks and we'll be fortunate enough to grab her first, I see Markowski (Neb) got drafted this draft, she got away from us, hoping for Brooklyn next season.she's as good or better as her IMO

            • Saw a tweet yesterday that 87 players 6'4 or taller have entered the portal, and 57 are still available. The question is how many of the remaining 57 are really skilled at basketball in addition to being tall.

              • I believe that SDSU has had several 6'2" players who are actually taller. You would need to stand close to these women to realize 6'2" is conservative. I remember standing next to Ober who was in flat shoes and her eyes were looking down to me. She also handled the ORU big in the SLT in I think was her sophomore year. Mesa Byom is another that may go beyond the 6'2" mark. Brooklyn Meyer held her own against P4 bigs this season as well. Felchle could get Meyer level freshman minutes next season as a freshman. It is possible AJ is looking for a post backup, but I would not hold my breath for a post transfer.
Best to remember these are kids and they are doing everything they can to entertain us, be scholars, and all in all be great humans. Jackedforlife

The only one I can think of as a rim protector type is Katie Lingle. I believe she was a legit 6'4". Sunny, Brooklyn, and Ober all around that 6'2" area and strong and athletic.

                  • Looks like AJ might have his portal addition. Interesting to see who it is. He recently started following Hartwig on twitter, so that's my guess.

                    • Finally AJ tweets on X. It’s a great day to be a Jackrabbit! Look forward to finding out who’s joining his squad.

One hand points to campus...the other to the liquor store.

The USD fan forum said it is down to Duke, Kansas, Michigan State, Nebraska and TCU

It will be interesting to see if AJ stops with one. The 3 incoming freshmen added to the 9 currently on the roster means that we could add up to 3 more.

All of the team group photos I have seen over the last few years, Mesa is either at least 6-4” or everyone else is shorter then their stated height!

I feel like group photos like the SLT Championship photos are very tough to get a real read from, even the official roster photos are not full proof. I dont think EVERY player is trying to stand as straight and tall as possible

that said I have thought that Mesa and Maddy V consistently look taller than most people listed in the same height range. that is not from one photo. that is from looking at a couple years worth of WBB social media posts as well as official team photos

Maddy V has always been listed at 6'1 but she is clearly as tall as Brooklyn or Katie V or anyone else listed at 6'2, except for Mesa. it seems pretty clear that Mesa is the tallest player on the team, whatever that means about everyones true height

it appears that Shepphard may also be taller than her listed height
