    Re: Minnesota

Megan's little shoulder action after the team lined up is the stuff of rivalry as well (I'd rather she hadn't done that, personally)

Know what? I predict that's going to be an ESPN highlight for the next 24 hrs.

I agree. But, we're going to see some of that once in a while. Apparently Megan and #3 go back a ways. And, as one of the announcers noted, you're going to get that kind of reaction when you think you've won, then they seem to call it against you, and then after several tense minutes, they call it your game.

          That was a fun one.

This should help start a rivalry... and heat up the recruiting battles in Minnesota.

              Re: Minnesota

Prepare yourselves for the patented Gopher whine... As Nelson Muntz would say... "HAA ha."

I thought the sidecourt angle showed it had left Boever's fingertips. The view from under the opposite basket was less clear... as it would be... it's farther away. I wonder what AJ said to the refs to get them to rethink their initial replay call.

I got a kick out of the FSN announcers' inability to grasp that there are 0.09 seconds left once the clock goes to 00.0. After a bit of confusion, they finally figured it out. They also made too much out of Megan's reaction. Royland started the patented Gopher whine early, refusing to shake Ketty's hand.

Looked like Megan tweaked her ankle early in the first half. Great win on the road, especially with your star ailing a bit.
              Holy nutmeg!

I agree with you Jimmy - they absolutely couldn't grasp the concept of time remaining on the clock. Marnie Gellner apparently knows as much about basketball as she does baseball.

it was really fun watching the end of this game on tv with my family, who haven't seen the women play in a few years. my heart is still raceing after all of that.

Yes, but what they won't review is if 1.1 seconds really should have elapsed on the previous in-bounds play from the end to the sideline where the ball was tipped . . . and they won't review the 20-25 seconds that didn't elapse earlier in the half when the game was played with the clock stopped.

When it comes down to the end you have to go with the score when time runs out.  My old high school basketball rules books say that a shot at the buzzer is good unless the official is certain that it was not shot before time runs out, not that a shot at the buzzer is not good unless the official is certain that it was shot before time expires.  (Actually it is officially called a "try", not a "shot".)

Edit: I cannot locate the reference for my last paragraph right now so I cannot be certain if I read it in one of the three rule books of the set (Case Book, Rules Book, Official's Manual) or if I got that information elsewhere. I apologize for jumping the gun and not having my references checked before my post.

Great win no doubt about it. Hmmmmm will Sid Hartman have anything to say? He usually does not talk women's BB unless the Gophers are doing real well. I am going to have to buy a copy of the Tribune tommorow.

Sid told a Bison caller to his show that if NDSU was in the Big 10, they would go 0-18, so I suspect he will say the same about SDSU, but we all know we are a very good team and thats what counts.

                          Now that it's over:

                          1) The Fox Sports announcers were HORRIBLE. They took about a minute (real time) to realize that SDSU had taken the lead with a minute (clock time) or so to go in the game. They didn't seem to realize that one reason why Vogel wasn't scoring was that she was on the bench most of the first half in foul trouble. Just clueless.
                          b) The FSN audio mix (fortunately, perhaps) had the crowd noise up high enough that you could barely hear what the announcers were hearing, anyway.
                          "I think we'll be OK"

But I'm still thankful for TV broadcasts such as this. As much as I want to go to SDSU games it is roughly six hours each direction and its hard to plan that with work schedules, high school activities, and the weather.

                              What a win!

That will certainly help us in recruiting over the next couple of years.

AJ said that the officials looked at the monitor and called it on a still frame and he asked to see it and then asked them to look at it further. The side angle showed the ball was away and the officials reversed the call and the Jacks got the W! It was as close a call as I've ever seen!

Sounded like a pretty good number of people from the Jackrabbit Nation were there! I saw bluehatman on TV a few times!

                              AWESOME!
