Their is no requirement for AJ to tell the truth. Maybe AJ hasn't, but his representative probably has.

Agreed, he does not have to tell the truth, but the truth might be more interest by UM in the Notre Dame coach, and until she says no, I think we can plan on AJ being around.

UM Athletic Director Norwood Teague was on Dan Barreiro on KFAN yesterday. Interview with Teague starts at the 25:30 mark.

Says he wants someone who has been a head coach before. Otherwise there is not a lot of tells in the interview.

I would love to see TV tweet that AJ said he wasnt interested, but we havent heard that yet so to me he is prbably considering the job.

If I was a betting man, I'm thinking AJ is gonna be the next coach at Minnesota. The UM AD coming out and saying they want someone who was a head coach isn't a good sign.

That said, if our job opens up it will be a sought after position. AJ will have left our program in a better place than when he took over.

He'd be stupid to not consider it. I wouldn't blame him if he took it, but he's got several very good freshman that just got a ton of big game experience and quite possibly the best player has has ever recruited coming to join them next fall. The Minnesota job will open again, but Macy may well be a once in a lifetime player, she's that good.

Think about this: with all that coming back next year, best case scenario is what? Sweet 16? Elite 8 if everything falls into place?

At UM, AJ can recruit a Macy Miller every year instead of once in a lifetime. He will be expected to reach the elite 8. National championships are not out of the question.

As great as he has it at SDSU, Minnesota opens up so many possibilities for a competitive person.

I suspect we will find out how competitive AJ is if he were to take the job, but he has a very comfortable position earning 180k and Rowdy is right, he pays no state income tax. I think he is living in those new complex across from Edgewood Golf course, at least he was a few years back, and he has at least one youngster, and his current AD is not about to fire him, so life is good, why rock the boat?

I have the gut feeling that UM wants someone with more visiablity who they can bash when things go wrong. The lady from ND seems to fit that bill( ND equals Notre Dame, and not DeHoff)

I don't think it has to do with competitiveness.

He may be currently happy and satisfied. We know he loves South Dakota State and he has built strong relationships with his players. He has 2 children, and his wife is here...this would mean uprooting a family...for what? Certainly a chance at success...but also a chance at heartache and strife...would he want to go through what Borton did the past several years? I don't think so.

Sometimes you are wise to count your blessings, and be content with what you have. As mentioned above... the team could be all kinds of scary good next year...with another year this years freshmen, and the addition of Macy Miller? Holy Smokes. More potential than ever.

Why trade a successful life for one of uncertainty? I know what I'd pick, and it wouldn't be the U of M.

You said it better than I. Competition was mentioned only because SF Jack mentioned it.

We have yellow and blue glasses on though.

If someone was dangling $500,000 in front of you, it would be damn hard to turn down.

I'll take the opposite position for two reasons. First , the AD also said that a top priority is getting a coach who is a great recruiter not only locally but on a national scale. Second , the head coach of the other two high profile women's sports ( volleyball and hockey ) are male , and I just have a gut feeling that a female will get the job.

Aside from the pay raise. Is it worth it to move the family to the twin cities? Some probably feel yes and he has family in minn but its not like brookings is that far away. Raising kids and a family in brookings is something to consider too. Plus even he has 1 year contract let's face it he is probably could stay as long as he wants. Unless all of a sudden we are the worst team in the confrence for the next 6 years I don't think he as to worry about job security. Borton was there 12 years. Will the next coach get that much leeway or after a could rough years do they get the boot? I could honestly see this playing out either way. Since he found out going to green bay its not always greener else where.
