    Re: Usd gdt

I agree with AJ's comment in the post-game interview: never likes to lose but this is a bigger win for USD than it is a bad loss for us.

Well, we're still the #1 seed and I don't think that can be wrestled away from us.

We move on to a big game against NDSU and Frost will be rocking Saturday afternoon. Should be a great crowd for the noon men's game against Buffalo on national TV leading in to the women's game (REMEMBER EVERYONE: WEAR BLUE!!! DON'T WEAR YELLOW BECAUSE SOME OF THOSE TUNDRA DWELLERS WILL SHOW UP WEARING YELLOW FOR THE WOMEN'S GAME.)

I would be embarrassed if SDSU hired an announcer even half as bad as that guy. He was consistently wrong on communicating what was going on in the game, questioned the ref calls every time they went against USD even when the call was blatantly obvious, freaked out over minor happenings in the game, and had the most irritating catch phrase for every USD three pointer (DING! DING! DING! DING!).

...and yes, I know I could have turned the volume off, but I generally like sound to go along with the visual of the game.
I feel your pain. I usually tune out announcers, but this guy was so brutal i found myself paying attention just to see what he would say next. He should be fired for "ding ding ding",alone.

They are like Jackrabbits Lite...making some noise early in the Summit League. Makes me feel a little better about ORU leaving. Although, they need to learn the "reload" not "rebuild" mantra like AJ has..

The women announcer for Midco is IMO not very good. I have heard her do other women games besides SDSU and I don't care for her (not that I could do better and I know I could not do any better).

I listened to the USD call of their game where they beat ORU in Tulsa and yeah, the DING DING DING call was really kinda strange and jarring, but overall, I thought he actually did a halfway decent job. Of course, I just had the audio to go by.

I realize moving Jill to the point needed to happen because of turnover problems, but let's face the facts that she is not a natural point guard. That is not a knock on her - she just does not have the experience to run an offense like a Macie who had played the position her entire career. And having Jill at the point takes away the most consistent outside threat on the team. The Jacks have been playing with fire because of poor shooting a number of times, but have been able to overcome it until tonight. Hopefully the string of home games to end the season will allow the team to get the offensive game hitting on all cylinders going into Sioux Falls.

Yeah she needs work. Notice the tv guy also was wearing red.

I'll place the odds (not that I do that kind of thing) of my being in Sioux Falls at 45 percent. If I make it, I'll shoot you a note. I'm still wound up, on some quiet level, about last week. During the course of my job, I interact with many, many (too many) USD grads. That probably accounts for my rashness when it comes to sports. Anyhow...thread drift.

I would have better accepted tonight's loss had it not been for the way we just let it go at the end of regulation. Grrrrrrrr.

That game was ugly. Not sure what was worse. How bad we played or that it took usd over time to win.

                          Re: Usd gdt

There are some places where the ESPN ScoreCenter app on my phone updates the final score within seconds of the end of the game.

And then, there is USD. Not sure exactly when the game ended, but ScoreCenter updated with the final at 9:42 p.m.

                          Just reporting what I observe, folks . . .

Yeah JJ Hartington, whose bio is not found anywhere, mentioned several times Ryan Wilson the USD coach. I believe he meant Ryan Williams, so our guy seems to make a few boo-boos. Just saying.

To be polite, J.J. is a "work in progress" I guess. But doing radio sports play-by-play is NOT EASY. Try it yourself, sometime. It makes you realize how good the really good ones are.
