People might not realize this, but this might be our biggest recruiting battle victory in the DI Era. I am pretty sure Anders had more offers from other DI schools than any other Jackrabbit recruit (Note: Dykstra had offers from more prestigious programs, but I don't recall him having the quantity).

Per TV, here's a game-by-game breakdown of Broman's scoring. It certainly is impressive.

You are going to absolutely love Anders Broman. Yeah he's well known for his 71 point outburst, but let me tell you first hand, it is the kid's mid-range game that will impress you. He lives in the gym & his work ethic is beyond believable. He gets grumpy if he doesn't get the opportunity to be in the gym. He knows what he has to work on and I don't doubt for a second that he won't be in the gym today working on those things. I'm like a kid on Christmas morning about this commitment. Will say it again, State fans are really going to love this guy.

Here are a couple videos of him. One from last season and the 71 pts & one from playing for Howard Pulley this summer.

Does anyone have a list of other schools that made official offers to Broman? It sounds like we scored a nice recruiting win here, if his defensive skills are adequate. This has been quite an off-season for the MBB team.

I get the impression there was a few more mid-majors as well.

How tall was woodside? Height isn't everything and its hard to predict. Remember our own wolters. To slow not quick can't defend were what others said about. He turned out ok I think. I trust our coaches.

height matters, especially for a shooter. But when the team around you is tall it isn't near as big if you had a 5'10" PG a 6'3" SF a 6'5" PF and a 6'7" C. Of the freshman and sophomores this year (guys he'd play with freshman and sophomore year. Its Bittle 6'4", Donlan 6'7" Devine 6'10", Horstman 6'5", Prince 6'3", and then the 2013 signees of Doyle 6'8" and Severyn 6'4" a 6'1-6'2 guy isn't going to kill you.

I remember Woodside as being quick off the dribble and Nate gets by on size and strength. I picture this kid more of a Brady Heslip from Baylor(remember the kid that killed us in the tournament). The only difference is that you had to respect Baylor's inside game and that got him his open looks. If Anders can square up and release his shot quickly and has ice water flowing through his veins he should be just fine.

Anders was a 180 shooter last season. Meaning he shot over 50% from Field, 40% from 3pt land and 90% from the line. His actual total was around 189. That's freaking awesome. Not even 5 NBA players can achieve that. Shooting will be the least of our worries with him. He'll need to bulk up, get better at distributing, & then defense of course.

Height matters more for set shooters, and if that was what Broman was, I'd be worried. However, Anders scores a ton of points off the dribble and has a great mid range game. This means that defenders can't just do run outs at the kid (overplaying the outside shot by running at the shooter and forcing the offensive player to either shoot over him or put the ball on the floor) and limit his offensive game.

Remember, Broman played for an elite summer league program against some of the nations top recruit and was the second leading scorer on the team, only behind the #1 point guard in the nation for the class of 2014 (Tyus Jones). The kid is going to be able to score for us, I have little doubt about that. What will make or break him as a college ball player will be how well he can defend his position. Personally, I think he has the work ethic and basketball IQ to negate much of his physical disadvantages on the defensive end.

                          From the Duluth News Tribune:
Lakeview Christian Academy basketball standout Anders Broman has committed to play college basketball at Division I South Dakota State University.
The high school senior, who set the Minnesota single-season scoring record last season and is closing in on the state’s career scoring record, told the News Tribune on Sunday night that he made the decision after making an official visit to the campus in Brookings, S.D., this weekend. That followed an unofficial visit to SDSU in August, and official visits to Vermont and Yale.
“I just really loved the campus,” Broman said of SDSU. “They have a great program (that) keeps getting better and better. … It felt like the right fit for me.”

I checked with a great source in Duluth and the report is: Great kid; great work-ethic; very coachable; no question he can play at the D-1 level.

Ask any of the McDonald boys that played at SDSU way back when or even the ones who didn't about Anders as well. You'll hear nothing but positive things. "Bromania" will hit Brookings at some point during his time there & stay. I already have it from last year.

Naters are going to Nate. I find it interesting that he has the McDonald endrosement. He has to be good.

                                from TV's blog

                                http://terryvandrovec.tumblr.com/

Broman is a 6-foot-1 senior guard and scoring machine. Among the most unusual numbers:
Broman spent the summer with Howard Pulley, a renowned club in the Twin Cities, playing in the backcourt alongside Tyus Jones – a top-5 recruit in the 2014 class – and Quinton Hooker, who recently gave a verbal to North Dakota. He wound up averaging 13.4 points per game (second on the team behind Jones), while knocking down 59 3s and 73 free throws.
Broman said that he received 20 NCAA Division I scholarship offers, and visited Vermont and Yale before taking an official to SDSU over the weekend. As you might expect, the Jacks’ recent success and community support played in their favor.
Also of note: His dad, John, was a Winter Olympian in 1980 in ski jumping, and he passed up opportunities to play for larger high schools in order to stay loyal to LCA, but opted to join Pulley for one summer after previously suiting up for the Minnesota Glory.
What does he do well? Shoot and score.
“To get ready for college, I’m going to be working on my ball handling, my play-making ability,” Broman said, “and being able to defend and getting in the weight room.”
For what it’s worth, ESPN ranks him 59th nationally at shooting guard.
