Sounds like this gentleman may be visiting SDSU according the Terry's twitter. http://www.stcloudstate.edu/athletic...Rostampour.asp

To quash some speculation, Jared Vlastuin said on our show today he has not talked to anyone about playing basketball after he is done with track.

You may be surprised at what another athletic option for him may be.

His next goal is becoming an All American and achieving the Olympic Trials.

www.callingallsportssd.com. Under the "archives" section, he is in the second segment of today's show, and he was great!

I heard your interview with Jared Vlastuin, Mr. H. It was very interesting. He's obviously a multi-talented guy. (But I still wish he'd consider a year of basketball!)
        This space for lease.

I saw that on Ryan James's twitter as well. The funny thing about that possibility is I'm not sure how happy he'd be in South Dakota if he does become a Jackrabbit. According to this St. Cloud Times article--http://www.sctimes.com/article/20120...asketball-team--about his (apparently unexpected) outgoing transfer, SCSU Head Coach Kevin Schlagel said,

“He walked in and said he didn’t like living in Minnesota anymore,” Schlagel said. “He didn’t give us a reason. It was very surprising.”
Obviously that might've just been Rostampour's excuse for getting out of St. Cloud, but if he really doesn't like living in Minnesota, I'm not sure if eastern South Dakota will be much of an improvement for him. It'll also be his 3rd college in 3 years, which can be concerning sometimes. And he averaged 8 ppg and 5 rpg as a starter for St. Cloud, which isn't terribly impressive for a guy planning to make the jump from D2 to D1.

Then again, sometimes all it takes is the right fit at the right program for a guy to shine. Maybe if he does end up at SDSU next year he'll help them out. I just think it's funny that he said he doesn't like living in Minnesota and then might end up in basically the same region, just a few hours west.

I have no clue on the guy. The 1 thing I hate to do is evaluate players based on stats, especially post. Dale Moss's stats on the basketball court make it look like he was a marginal player at best, yet when you watched him you could see he met more to the program.

I don't have a big problem with this being the 3 colleges in 3 years because he went to a JuCo, then transferred to SCSU and didn't like it, or didn't like Minnesota. I'd be more concerned if he went SDSU, sat our a year went NDSU, didn't like it so he went to Wenona St. It can be a warning sign, but people leave for many different reasons.
I guess without watching film, and knowing more about him I can't make a judgement on the specific guy.

He'd only be a walkon so it'd be low risk.

LOTS of differences between Minnesota and Eastern South Dakota: Fireworks, taxes, their 10,000 lakes to South Dakota's a lot of little lakes and some really, really big ones, and the fact that while you still have to call yourself a Twins fan if you are a loyal Twins fan, at least you don't live in Minnesota. Bill Janklow and Rudy Perpich spent years fighting about the differences between the states.

Yeah, I guess I framed him in a bad light, but I wasn't trying to say he'd be a bad player to bring in. Like I said before, sometimes all it takes is the right fit at the right program for a guy to shine. I was basically just sharing what I knew about him based on following NSIC basketball pretty closely and being active over on the D2 Message Board.

Either way, seems like SDSU is bringing in a solid class this year and I'm sure Nagy will know what to do with Rostampour if he does come to SDSU.

The guy has the size. Will he have the speed of that of Jordon Dykstra? There have been big guys out there, its just at the D1 level they have to some quickness and be able to pound the court. Also in the St. Cloud Times article, Coach Schalgel says the game was a little to fast for him??????????????? Huh. It will not slow down in the Summit.
I suspect a bunch of them(big guys) have been passed over because they are slow. I am surprised we are even talking to him.

Schlagel said the game was too fast for Ogi Rebic who is also leaving the team after what was basically a tryout season.

I'm surprised the coaching staff didn't check and get your assessment of a player you have never seen play.

Okay, I thought Ogi was the guy we are going to look at. My bad.

This was funny. Nothing personal Nidaros. Didn't see it was you until after the fact.

Again, this kid isn't going to get a scholarship. It's just a walkon opportunity. Nothing to get worked up about. At best he plays 5 minutes with foul trouble/injuries and at worst he's a practice player.
