Plus it's sorta creepy having some random guy ask you questions like being fully qualified on Twitter.

Gotta agree asking about ACT no doubt is a touchy subject Joe. I being a marginal student, I would not be answering random tweets about my academic records.

No need to guess, I am sure the NCAA has spelled it out. If not just call or e-mail Kathy and just ask.

        This might help

I just try to find info, not actively recruit or mess with.

I do believe it is a fine line, and fans shouldn't be recruiting or anything on these media sources.
Not very smart to be communicating with a recruit.

I never did ask about that though. He had blocked me by then. And I agree it probably was going to far.

I did it as a private message the USD.SDSU thing as well.

And you would be surprised how many get them mixed up. Recruits, newspapers, everyone. I feel if someone is on twitter and says they have an offer from SDSU, I have the right to ask them if its SDSU or USD. They don't have to answer or anything. There was one recruit, who thought he had an offer from SDSU until they asked him to visit and they informed him they were located in Vermillion.

I just wanted to clarify that.

Its not like I was calling him, or emailing him. I was asking him on an open twitter account in which he had made the initial statement.

I'm done talking about this, I'm sorry, I knew I was going a bit far, but I never did contact him for anything other then the USD/SDSU thing. Which I feel is fine.

Lets talk about actual recruits who are planning on visiting or are actively being recruited. We are on like a 5 page side track all over the map.

I'd be in favor of that!!!! Come on Rabbits! (about as easy to herd rabbits as cats )

How about them two new recruits? Any more info on when the new Jacks arrive from AK and OK? I drive by the primary turn-off to Bonnabel HS each day, but haven't seen boo from the Times-Piquane about (Kenner, LA guy).

From what I've heard, some has already been talked on here, both plan on staying the summer in Brookings and working out with the team. I think mid-late May is the plan for both of them. That is a good thing.

I found a very good summary of NCAA rules regarding contact of prospective athletes by alumni and boosters on the Ivy League website. I think it is relevant to dialogue in this string. Bottomline, supporters of SDSU athletics should not be contacting prospective athletes. Period.

NCAA Rules: A Guide for Alumni and Friends of Athletics

                    THE RULES
As part of the team, you must know the rules of the game.

Carrying on the Ivy tradition of excellence is hard work, and competition among the best institutions is intense. Searching for a competitive edge is part of the challenge, and we know that you want to help your favorite institution and be part of a winning team. Meeting those challenges means playing by the rules. The NCAA has rules for coaches, players, and YOU!

NCAA Rule: Who is governed by the rules?

Members of an institution's staff, student-athletes, and other individuals and groups representing the institution's athletic interests shall comply with the Association rules, and the member institution shall be responsible for such compliance.

Interpretation: This means that the school you support is responsible for making sure that anyone involved with its athletics program knows the rules that apply to them. The school will be held accountable for any rule broken by anyone representing it.

NCAA Rule: Do NCAA rules apply to me?

You are considered a representative of your institution's athletic interests just by being an alumnus, friend or donor.

Interpretation: This means that any contact you have with current or prospective student-athletes at your institution can affect the eligibility of your institution's individual student-athletes and teams to compete in NCAA and Ivy competition.

                    PROSPECTS
All recruiting of prospective student-athletes must be done by institutional staff members.

NCAA Rule: Who is a "Prospect"?

A "prospect" is any student who has started classes for the ninth grade.

Interpretation: This means that recruiting any student who has started classes for the ninth grade is subject to NCAA rules.

                    NCAA Rule: Contacting Prospects

Representatives of an institution's athletic interests are prohibited from having any contact with prospective student-athletes.

Interpretation: You may not have contact with a prospect or his or her parents, on or off campus, in person, by telephone or in writing.

One Limited Exception: Student-athletes do not have to be treated differently than other applicants in the admissions process. If you are a member of your institution's Alumni Schools Committee and are assigned to interview students who are also athletes you may contact the student for these purposes, but for these purposes only! Alumni Schools Committee members may not have contact with prospects whom they are not assigned to interview.

Another Limited Exception: If a family friend or neighbor is a "prospect" then you may continue to maintain this relationship, however you may never have a recruiting conversation.

ok no more contacting recruits period. I got it. Still thought it was funny though a month or so ago, when a guy on twitter said he was excited because he had an offer from SD-State. And then 2 days later realized it was USD, and was disappointed.

Some European guy who was playing prep school ball somewhere in the US, he went back to Europe, because he didn't have any offers. I found a convo between him and another guy on twitter where he explained it, was pretty funny. The one guy was making fun of him for going back to Europe instead of playing D-I ball. Said he only had two offers, one was South Dakota. Said he thought it was South Dakota St. at first and was excited and then learned it was South Dakota and wasn't.

according to some guy on twitter. I'm not going to say who, and I'm not going to follow him, because I don't need the NCAA on my @$$ right now. But says Kory Brown from Elgin HS in Illinois has received his 2nd scholarship offer from South Dakota St. Could it be USD? sure, but I'm not going to ask.

The other offer is from North Dakota State, and this is according to his Dad's twitter account.(ok so I lied) I don't plan on asking for further details.

Here is video of him http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1Iyu4AjyTI

Chicago tribune article on him http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports...,2782327.story

He is a SG/SF. I've seen him listed between 6'4"/6'5" weighing in between 190-205 with a wingspan of 6'10" Has had a ton of interest but only the two offers. list EIU and WIU as well as Loyola IL and Drake of schools that have shown interest.
