Keeping the ball up and close and foot work are sort of the things I want to see a player do at any level. If he has that figured out already, the coaching staff has a kid already a step a head of others.

Fundamental parts of being a quality post player. Foot work with and without the ball both on offense and defense. There are almost no situations where a post player should hold the ball below chest high. Benson does a nice job with the fundamentals and look where that has gotten him.

True, but the vast majority of post players, including many in the pros, end up bringing rebounds down into traffic before putting up another shot. It's one thing to catch a pass high and put it up, another thing to pull in a rebound and put up another shot without bringing the ball down. That's impressive.

There are many players at pro and college level that are great and keeping hands up before, during and after a play. a lot of guys get tip ins because they kept their hands up and were ready for it. Dukes Brian Zobeck(SP), when he would grab it and lower it, often times it could be stolen, if he just kept his arms ready and hands toward the basket on a rebound could put it in easier then trying to bring it down. He really was not effective at that until his senior year when they won the title. Maybe in the pros there is so much height that bringing the ball down is fine, but at college, keeping the ball up on rebounds is an easy way to get baskets. Shoot, can't think of his name, The guy who played opposite of Benson at oakland, he was very good at that also. got the ball out quick on D and up quick for put backs on O.

Zak Showalter from Germantown, Wisconsin recently committed to Wisconsin as a preferred walk on. He held offers from SDSU and NDSU.

must really want to be a Badger. Generally you don't see verbal's for walk-on spots the summer before a senior year. Could be a walk-on/redshirt scholarship situation. just kinda seemed odd.

                From Twitter:

@TerryVandrovec Any steam on another men's 2012 signing besides Conner Devine?

@jackrabbitden Put it this way: There should be news fairly soon

Anyone have any idea what the news might be?

Sounds like news should break sometime next week on an addition to the men's team. We'll have to wait until then for the who, what, & where's but if it happens Terry V should have the scoop.

sdsu still looking at Zac Kranning? If i remember we were on him and off him and thought maybe walk on, but I might totally be confused. Even if he is not the difference maker at 6-9 we want, would he still be a good potential addition?

By the way, it seems 17-19 years ago Zac was a very popular name.

From what i am hearing Zach is looking at a couple of Ivy league schools and USD. Even if Zach doesn't go to State, I would be VERY surprised if we don't sign a couple of bigs for 2012. It will be fun to see what happens with the early signing period.
