Re: Hot Stove 2010-11: Men's Basketball Edition
I haven't read most of this so this is probably redundant.
I don't like to see players leave early but it's not up to me.
Josh decided to leave and I think it was a good decision. He wouldn't have played much and he took up a scholarship. He can move on and SDSU can find somebody that can help the team
Michael and AC- They decided to move on for their reasons. AC will graduate in December anyway so he would want to move on before the conference season gets into full swing. His back is bad and if it's that serious, it's nice to know now instead of hope that he can play (in the tourney) and then be let down. This way the younger guys will get more PT and the players will get more of a chance to gel.
I don't know what job they have for Michael but he must not need to finish his schooling. It's nice to have an "in" so you can get a job. It would have been nice to have him so there was experience at the PG position but it is what it is.
About 10-15 minutes a game is about what I think both of them would have been playing. Enough minutes to be missed but not enough to shake up the team. This depends on injuries and other things, though.
James is a different story. I'll wait until I see who else in coming in and what Nagy does with the scholarships before I judge this. If James wasn't going to play at all, it's nice to let him know that and move on if he wants to. If the scholarships are spoken for, it's not a bad move. I just don't see SDSU bringing in 4 more players next year. I think I read somewhere that he said he might just leave the scholarship open. Will he give a 1 year scholarship to a walk-on? If you don't have somebody to replace him and you leave the scholarship open, why not let him stay here? He knows that he won't get to play but that's his option.
I did see a player on campus Monday, March 29th. I think he might come in to replace Michael. That's just a guess but he looked like a juco guard.
