Some of you folks are WAY too tightly wound.

Stu is Stu. He wants to get exactly the kind of visceral reactions some of you are giving him.

If you want to stick it to Stu, just laugh off his provocations.

What is meant by this? That the people that showed up weren't true State fans?
What he's saying is those who left early are pretty much fair-weather fans. Can't say I disagree.

Yes and no. I sat there to the end, but it wasn't as though I really cared or was cheering (finishing my beer, talking to pals about the future of the program). I seldom if ever leave a game early, but that's just me. It was a Monday night, the last game of a long year and the last game, for some, for a long weekend of hoops.

Part of me wishes everyone would have stayed til the end and given our team a standing ovation for all the hard work and dedication this season.

And, part of me thinks a standing ovation is accepting of a losing season, which no fans should applaud.

I would disagree with this as well. I think the weather played a part in people leaving early as well...granted not all of them...but a lot of people had to get back to Brookings that night, and it wasn't that great a night to be driving.

I personally, would've stayed till the end, but that's just me.

This struck me as an interesting discussion the whole idea of a "fair weather fan" I guess we can take it literally or at least a fan as long as there's no blizzard outside. By the way I would have probably left a little early too. I have been on I-29 during a snow storm so I understand.

well, if you think about it, the jacks fans were the only ones that had to travel anywhere after the game.

I'm hearing that the Sioux Falls market will not be without ESPN radio for very long.

There is ESPN nearby (and on your radio dial) I do believe. 1570 out of Verm/Yankton area. 910? I've always enjoyed scanning the dial late night as you can get all kinds of programs from almost all over the country. That said I would love for the local guys to have some competetion. I would hire John...but what the hell is it with Craig lately? Guy comes accross so negative and so pompous on everything outside of what KWSN covers! I recently had a chance to do business w/ their station but declined and it was b/c of him. It's really getting old...fast.

I can't say much yet but I have it on very good source that ESPN radio will be broadcast out of Sioux Falls on an existing radio station fairly soon. If you are fairly up on the SF radio situation you could probably put 2 and 2 together and get it figured out.

Oh, and them not carrying ESPN any longer had nothing to do with them wanting to broadcast more local events, it was just their way of selling the change.

EQ is right and wrong. ESPN is going to be on one of the Cumulus FM stations in Sioux Falls.

He is wrong about the reason for the change however. While there is always more than one reason for most everything, local programming is the main reason for the change. This has never been about MORE local programming, it has been about maintaining the local programs they have, which is where they make the majority of their money.

ESPN has changed their apporoach. It used to be that you could pick up their MLB and NBA games. Now they are part of the required package. KWSN decided that they would rather air a Lincoln-Roosevelt high school game than a Portland-Houston NBA game on a Friday night in January, for example. You will hear the difference when the switch is made at Cumulus. Cumulus will probably have some local progamming (games) on that frequency, but no where near the amount that KWSN airs.

Interesting. I'm glad that ESPN will still be available in the Sioux Falls market to give listeners an option. Thanks for the information and insight.

I'm guessing this has to do with KSOO being on both an AM and FM signal, but I can never remember which station belongs to what group. I know that when KSOO went to the simulcast, the ownership had said that it would go until the first of the year on the FM, but nothing guaranteed. If I remember correctly, they had a deadline to meet to start broadcasting on that station (99.1 FM) or they would have lost the license.

I wouldn't be surprised to see ESPN on KSOO FM. I was in Rapid City a couple of weeks ago and they had ESPN radio on one of the FM stations out there.

                                The competetion should be good.

I have had my issues w/ KWSN but I am glad they are staying local. Can't say I like getting in the car and hearing USF women's basketball, but I'd rather have HS over NBA anyday.

And they have been talking more about SDSU lately.
