I went last night having a good feeling of the Jacks playing a very good game. Moral victory...HA! Never.
How many freekin' layups did they give up? Twenty, for real? No wonder they're giving up 60% shooting from the floor lately. Bring in the skinny @$$ 6'11" guy and have him drill a couple of guys coming in the lane and maybe they'll think a little more about driving every time.
To allow a team to come back and force overtime when they are down by 5 with a minute to go and not even make a bucket is absolutely unacceptable. To let Woodside go crashing into every effin guy on the court until he gets a foul call is such crap, effective, but crap and for the Jacks to allow him to do it is more crap. Steal the ball, take a charge, something, come on!!!
The shot Callahan took was just junk too. Have some presence of where you are and how much time is left. Where the heck was Cordova in that last minute? Granted they could have went all hack a Shaq on him, but for the stuff he was throwing up to go in, he was the best option.
That 60 foot shot by Winkleman could have just as well went in, it would have eliminated the five minutes of pain in overtime.
I read the article in the paper this morning and it just revved me up again. This was not a disappointing loss. This was an aggravating loss.
Gotta come out with some assertiveness on Thursday and win and then again Saturday. These are home games, they must be won for Sioux Falls in March to be an option.

As for next year, there is talent on that bench but those guys don't really get a chance to show it or develop with guys like Woodside, Nelson, and Winks out there. Those guys are going to get their touches, that is just the way it is. However, I do like how the bench guys have picked up there play, it is night and day from last year.
Will they turn into big time contributers next year? Who knows but I wouldn't exactly write them off before they get a chance. I won't say NDSU will be the best team in the Summit or anything like that(Oakland is going to be great next year) but the team is mid-level and could be very solid by the time the end of the season rolls around.Last edited by KUlawJack; 01-24-2009, 01:56 PM.

Re: NDSU Game Thread
Being at the game last night, I too was disappointed with the outcome, but I think that Coach Nagy has this team heading in the right direction and if we get a few more breaks and a couple of the layups go in we beat the #1 team in the conference.
Also when we get that first game to go our way watch out for the Rabbits!

Re: NDSU Game Thread
I think we need to start worrying about next year ... next year, not now. How NDSU shapes up with the loss of four gifted seniors, is a judgement call. As others have said, we got most of our people back, and with another year of experience under their belt, we can only be a better team.. I do like Woody's comment that "we were lucky to win", and unspoken is the preception is that SDSU has improved. Three close loses do sting however, but lets hope our guys can shake it off.

SDSU won't have a bench next year!
Anyone explain this?
