  • Re: 2010 Recruits

I thought Rader matched up as well with Benson from Oakland as either Cordova or Engen did but he is built the same way. He's a solid rebounder. It would be nice to see some more of him on the floor to get a better idea of what he can do. It might be tough for him to match up on a given defender but with his height and offensive skill set he can be just as much of a mismatch for the opposing team.

That being said, we have plenty of guys that deserve minutes so they may be tough for him to play. Nagy will play the person best equipped to give the team a chance to win. To get more minutes they need to work their tails off and earn them.

Far cry from a few years ago that we have a guy like Radar seeing very limited minutes. We're going the right way!

The only thing holding Radar back is his foot speed on defense. He's got a great touch shooting.

        According to TV(Twitter):

Kansas City prep guard Reese Holliday verbals to UW-Green Bay. He reportedly had a scholarship offer from SDSU. http://bit.ly/dge1qB

Do we have another scholarship left to give for 2010? I was under the impression we were out.

it could of been offered this summer when we had one or been a redshirt/walk-on then scholarship, or could of just been a miscomunication, or maybe someone is leaving, or who knows.

I don't believe we have a scholarship left, but not 100% on that either. If we do, I'd hope we still have the reported offer out to Alec Brown (6'11", 200 lbs), as he is a finalist for MN Player of the Year on a 17-1 Winona squad. Real skinny and would probably have to redshirt, but seems like a project worth the risk. Plus, it would be sweet to have a recruiting class of three in which the shortest player is 6'9"!

Not sure on this next year. Initially Carlson was going to redshirt this year and take a schollie in 2010. I think he got Anthony Davis' schollie though, so does this open one up? Did Nate get Davis' schollie? Heemstra and Dykstra verballed for 2010.

In 2011 there are 4 total. (Cordova, Moss, Palarca, Sargent and Tivis - Tivis a walk-on, right?). Horstman verballed for 2011.

2012 there are just 1 or 2 open. Obviously, after the bigtime class of 2010, the next year (losing AC and Sarg especially) will be huge for this program, which is why it's so important to start building momentum right now.

So I see Jordan Dykstra had another "pedestrian" game last night. 40 points and 15 rebounds. Albeit in double-ot, but still...

I guess Iowa's regular season ended last night with Rock Valley at 19-2.

They probably don't need Dykstra for the first playoff game, maybe he can come up and put in some minutes tonight.

I can't wait to watch this kid play.

I saw some highlights last night . . . both Heemstra and Dykstra had that "man among boys" look to them in the few clips I saw . . .

I dont know how to say it with out saying it but a team that has 2 legit D-1 players they should look and stand head and shoulders above the rest. Like madison last year with White and Feigen. I am really looking forward to next year seeing them in action. Just wish they could have played 1 year with Kai and Garrett.

I hope Nagy can use the Heemstra/Dykstra/Wolters/Fiegen/White years to ratchet up recruiting another notch.

Kind of like Stig finding players that are 'above the line' every year.

Here is a link to an action shot of Brown playing in a recent game from his hometown newspaper. Yes, he is thin. Nice article about him.

Dykstra and Heemstra are lighting it up right now in Rock Valley in the first round of districts. Multiple dunks and one technical for Hemmstra on dunk.

halftime score 57-34 and Dykstra probably has 25 pts at the break!

Rock Valley is playing Akron-Westfield tonight, who's head coach just happens to be my younger brother. I asked him how he'd game plan against two 6'9" kids when his center is only 6'4". His response was; "Try to make the first shot and stall the rest of the game." I'm assuming he didn't score first...

                              Final score roughly, 92-50!

...just got back from the game in Rock Valley. I needed to see these 2 guys for myself. Dykstra is scary good. I don't want to guess how many points he had, but he honestly could've scored 60+ if he wanted to. His build and athleticism are unbelievable for a young man his age. Oh yah, almost forgot....Heemstra isn't too bad himself
