Part of me was hoping he would pull an AJ, but such is life. We will move on too and probably be better off because he was here.

I have to laugh about Nagy saying it took a special place for him to leave SDSU. Let's be real it took north of $500,000 to make it a special place. There is nothing else special about the Job, University or city of Dayton. Call it what it is a change of scenery, a fresh start and primarily a money grab and financial security for his family with a five year contract (2.5 million) and that is okay he has earned it! I appreciate what he has done for the University and wish him luck unless they play the Jackrabbits. I still think he should have held out for a better program, but realize the earning potential window was closing. Look forward to a new voice and leadership in the basketball program.

Seriously? What is he supposed to say to his new employer and fan base? You guys suck, but thanks for the $500k?

Thats why I think he would use them as the stepping stone, if he can do well there and "wright" the ship. sorry for the pun.....he will get a lot more offers and can move on to those better oppertunities. Even if he doesnt do well he will atleast take it too the bank.

I guess it is because we have not been thru the process in so long but it really seems cold. Not a mention or thanks to South Dakota State or Brookings for the 21 years.

I agree. I think he will have more exposure and an easier jump to the other 12 or so Ohio Universities that are basically all better jobs!

He's 49, it isn't just the money. If he still has aspirations to get a high profile job he had to take this job. The door is closing, there is no way he goes from SDSU to a power conference. He has to hit a middling school. Wright State has a pretty solid history and the school is in a part of the country where continued success, and tournament appearances will drive a lot of publicity. I have little doubt Nagy can win at Wright State. If he gets them on the type of run he has had here in the last 5 years he will get a shot at a much higher profile job. How about we just thank him for his time here. He's a really good man who deserves our respect and our thanks.

Plus, I think it is pretty exciting to see who we bring in. I have a lot of trust in Sell. It is a very attractive job and I have no doubt we will all be very happy once the process is over. This is a chance for our Men's program to take that next step.

For me, the shock lasted 5 minutes and now there's excitement about the future and who might be the new coach. Being a mitchell guy, id love to see Ryan Miller. But im sure there are others more qualified.

I look forward to positive post-game interviews with whomever is the new coach. I loved Scott Nagy, glad he was the coach but I did not enjoy his post-game interviews at all. I will also enjoy seeing a new coach who uses time-outs in an effective manner. Here's to a new day ...

You may not have been around for all 21 years and 3 assistant Nagy years. Any other coach seems unthinkable but to bring this Northern guy in is going to take some time. I do think Ryan might be the best fit.

Not sure how you couldn't enjoy his post game interviews. Nagy wasn't a rah rah type or handle his players with kids gloves type coach but his post game comments were very open and honest, IMO.

Personally I'll never forget a couple of his post game comments. One was the night Berte broke his arm during "the transition". Berte's time at SDSU had some challenges but the emotion you could hear in Nagy's voice that night was real when he talked about how much it hurt to see Berte's career end like that. The second was last year after the Summit title game and how he described that this is what living feels like when you put you're all into something and put yourself up in front of an entire fan base.

Or how about when he described how he was thankful for the players like Kai Williams and Garrett Callahan and how they had as much to do with SDSU being successful as anyone?

Nagy leaving isn't a bad thing for SDSU. Both SDSU and Nagy have benefited from his service. We have a chance to bring someone in to continue the climb.

I also liked his postgame interviews. I would rather hear reality than have smoke blown up my a**.

Man, anyone else feel the exact opposite way? [EDIT: Just read the two posts above mine. Glad I'm not alone.] I loved his candor. Never used "coach-speak."
