Marshall did a hell of a job on Landis as it took him 20 shots to score 22 points and shot 3-11 from 3 point land. The kid's shooting over 50% from 3 point land. Just because their guards scored over 70 points their primary go to guy struggled to get good looks consistently. Every lose ball ended up in the hands of ipfw and we did a poor job keeping them off the offensive glass.
Watched every second and looked at the box score. Just my opinion. Long shots create long rebounds. That's more on the guards than anyone else. I don't doubt effort at all. But the results weren't very satisfying overall.

I think after losing here as long as the team isnt suffering from the flu anymore they should be able to right the ship at western, but it wont be easy. For a "bad" conference team, they could probably beat anyone with their guards they have. I am going to stick with my assertion that this team goes the way Bittle goes. If he plays well we win, if he struggles or is out we probably lose. All the guys are important parts of the team, but he might be the glue that holds it all together. Nagy can not be happy about the points and rebounds.

The stats say he played good defense if you look at the avgs, but its hard to say someone played good defense when they gave up 90 points again. They had 3 20 point scorers in the game and over 90 points, that doesnt add up to good defense really anywhere.......I will add the disclaimer I did not watch it so if I had that might change my mind.

I like it! Although Ian/Mike/Connor combined for 26pts and 9 brds. No need to apologize for those numbers.

Another big game, another disappointing loss. This one likely cost us the conference championship. At least we didn't come out flat like we always do in rivalry games.

I wouldn't chalk it up as a win just yet. We may very well be playing without Moffit and Telly.

Sounds like Reed is fine and Keaton doesn't sound good.

Yeah, either one of those would be a big loss. I was just basing it on how this team has bounced back after losses this year. Haven't lost more than 1 game at a time yet, and most times came back with a convincing win. With only a 2 day turnaround, it will largely depend on how healthy we are.

When coach talks about defense good offensive players are going to find a way to score even if the scouting report is in play to minimize their impact. More or less try and contain them. What I saw last night was simple boxing out breakdowns and help defense. I don't understand if a common defensive principle is ball/man meaning watch the ball and your man how can an opposing guard get past his man and our bigs are not sliding to block his path. There were a few times yesterday that if our guards got beat the offensive player made it all the way to the basket for a layup. Where is the help and why is it so late . Maybe their next practice should be spent practicing on the basics, boxing out and weak side help.

If the Jacks win out, I am very confident they do no worse than tie for the conference championship.

We are 1-5 against NDSU the last 6 tries. Our lone win was a 4 point game with 1:05 to go. We play them next week.

I am hopeful that a tie for a conference championship is still within reach, but not confident. We no longer control our own destiny.

Just a reminder that the Summit Tourney is going to be a dog fight this year. Our team will have a good chance, but the semis and final will be very good basketball.

One thing that I haven't seen a lot of in this thread, me included, is giving credit to IPFW. They had a lot of new pieces into their lineup this year and they are a good team. They are leading the conference. Sure, we didn't give them our best last night but they are in first place for a reason.

I still like our team the rest of the way out. However, I felt good heading into last night too.
