    Re: 2015-2016 Schedule

Welp...that's an underwhelming non-conf home schedule to say the least.

I called and ordered extra tickets for the Notre Dame women's game just now. Not many reserved seats left.

BB through EE only had top row available. Let's hope all the season ticket holders can show up for this game.

Four OOC home games and two are DII. Pathetic. I feel bad for the players and the fans that live close enough to attend.

Seems like there hasn't been much released about the men's schedule this year. I see why.

They just lined up the Wayne St game yesterday. It is hard to get teams to come to Frost.

It's getting more difficult every year. Was talking to a member of the staff a couple of months ago, the guarantees we were offering schools was absurd and still couldn't get anyone to bite.

I guess the good news is that there will be some great women games to watch. The weber st game might be the only non conf game i will drive up for.

Hopefully we can get some return games from Illinois St and UMKC for next year.

With season ticket pricing continuing to increase along with minimum donations for premiere seats they owe it to the fans to come up with a better non-conference schedule. It's like paying retail for NFL tickets for pre-season games.

It's not that the coaching staff isn't trying, teams will not come to Frost. If my memory serves me correctly, we have lost 3 home games in the last 3 years combined. No school wants to schedule a game that they probably can't win. Tough situation for the coaching staff to be in. I would rather deal with not having good opponents because our teams are too good at home than good opponents coming because we suck.

This is one reason why I would like the Summit League to add a team or two, and keep the conference schedule as home and home with every team, because in today's business, it is just way too difficult to get any type of decent home game. The only reason the home schedule is somewhat decent is because of the conference schedule.

The other option I would like to see is the conference helping out, where they would work a scheduling agreement with another mid-major (similar to the ACC/Big 10 challenge), where maybe we'd agree to 2 games per team (1 home, 1 away), with a similar mid-major conference.

I also believe that the athletic department does have some home games coming, but finding exact dates isn't easy and teams like to push it 2-3-4 years and then try to buy it out, rather than play in many situations.

As others have posted, the only thing we owe fans is doing our very best to put together a good home schedule. I believe the coaches are doing their very best to do just that. I would point out a few things about the schedule (especially for those who have to travel): Of the 6 home games, three are doubleheaders with the women's team. That would certainly be a plus for me if I didn't live in Brookings. Weber State on Nov. 16 is a legitimate (stand alone) game in the non-conference schedule. Middle Tennessee State is certainly a great non-conference matchup and is being held at the Pentagon (to help out our travelers) where I will certainly travel to it. The other 2 are Dec. 2 and 13, against two D-II schools, which isn't unusual in our pre-conference schedule. Could it be better...maybe...but it is what it is, and the lateness of announcing the schedule points to the difficulty the coaches face these days.

Yeah the home games aren't that great, but the away non-conference games are pretty good. Minnesota, TCU, and Texas Tech are all P5 games that they Jacks have a good chance to win. Then you add in solid mid-majors like ISU-R and FGCU. Away road wins have more relevance to the selection committee.
