Re: 2015-2016 Schedule
Joeboo does have a great point there.
This is truly a struggle as many have pointed out. We are blessed with a very competitive program (especially at home) but yet we aren't to a level where it can help a team's RPI. The next step is to go on the road and start winning some of these bigger games. The more that happens the better chance of getting some bigger games at Frost, the chance of NCAA at-large bids come into play, and it should continue to draw bigger crowds. Right now, we don't look good on a team's resume even if they beat us. Winning quality games and raising the RPI helps that. The other alternative is to go backwards. No thanks. I will take the current issues.
SUPERBUNNYMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, BIZUN!!!

The other option I would like to see is the conference helping out, where they would work a scheduling agreement with another mid-major (similar to the ACC/Big 10 challenge), where maybe we'd agree to 2 games per team (1 home, 1 away), with a similar mid-major conference.
I also believe that the athletic department does have some home games coming, but finding exact dates isn't easy and teams like to push it 2-3-4 years and then try to buy it out, rather than play in many situations.
Also, basketball schedules are set one year in advance, not the 1-4 years as you suggest. Even when agreements in principle are made about doing a home and home, or a two for one, those years are never agreed to upfront, other than the year at hand. If Nagy isn't well connected, or have lots of "friends" in the coaching industry, the odds of getting the big games in Brookings is diminished. I'm not saying it to jab you, I'm telling you how it is. I have a great froend that is a team ops guy for a power 5 school, and he laid it out.
With the hiring of Craig Smith, a door was opened for him to bring in a power 5 schools or two, or one from a big time league, non power 5, like a Colorado State, and that isn't going to happen either. His old boss ( Tim Miles ) at Nebraska won't dare come to Vermillion for fear he'd get beat by his former assistant. And yes, he wouldn't come to Brookings either, for fear of the same thing. That's the reality of Division 1 sports and specifically basketball.

The first, and most important in the mindset of the opposing team coaches is the strong possibility of getting beat. That's dangerous. Secondly, it's the logistic side of the business. Teams have to fly into Sioux Falls then bus to Brookings or Vermillion. That's a pain in the arse for many schools as once the game is over, these schools want to get their athletes out of there and back home at a reasonable time ( as reasonable as can be ) so they can attend class.

This is reality, and the issue probably gets worse as either USD or SDSU gets better. I wonder if playing a second game at the Pentagon should not be considered. Would you trade one of those D2 home games for another game against a solid mid-major in Sioux Falls? I know my answer to that question.

My hope is that as SDSU and USD get better, more opponents will travel to SDSU because of our higher RPI - like the girls program.“I used to be with it. But then they changed what it was. Now what I’m with isn’t it, and what’s it seems scary and wierd. It’ll happen to you.” — Abe Simpson

1) Economics: Making the NCAA tournament for a men's college basketball team is huge (not only payouts but marketing of the school by getting named on TV 100's of time). Any loss hurts seeding, at-large potential, etc.
2) Trying to grow a brand: The brand of Men's college basketball is huge and established. The women not so much. Women's teams are more willing to travel to help grow that brand and appeal. Wrestling is much the same.
