I trust the coaches and players to the core, all of whom agreed that he deserved and should get another chance. GO JACKS!

I've thought that life after Nate Wolters was going to be different but still successful. Before the announcement about Cody, people were picking/guessing Denver and NDSU ahead of the Jacks. I didn't agree with those picks before today's announcement and with today's announcement, I'm convinced those picks will prove to be flat wrong. There's no reason this team won't compete to go to the tourney for the third year in a row.

Setting my guarded optimism aside for a moment, Cody succeeding at State could do wonders for convincing the local talent to stay in-state. I can't imagine how good the local teams would be if all of the SD boys had stuck around the area. I hope everything works out for Cody. He has put himself through the ringer, I can't help but think that a good/stable couple of years would really help him get started on the next stage of his life.

I'm hoping Cody can complete his last yrs of collegiate eligibility with relative anonymity,it would be much more enjoyable and much less stressfull.Hope he's learned this, and hope he can salvage something good from the chance he's being given yet again.I'm sure he will.

Short interview with Cody after he heard about the good news. It also shows the team playing a pickup game at Frost.....

A good addition to the team, but I am concerned about point gaurd play more than anything. You look at the last five champions from 2009-2013, and it was Woodside (NDSU), Jones (Oakland), Hamilton (Oakland), Wolters (SDSU) @2 at PG for those teams. Even has dominant as Benson was for Oakland, I am not sure those teams could have done it with out great PG play. It will be interesting to see if Bittle will be an elite PG.

Back on subject....I am happy Cody got approved to play this year.

I agree with this. I believe Cody will be given every opportunity to succeed (which isn't always true for transfers/walkons).

While I'm optimistic at this news, I'm also a little hesitant to get too jubilant. One reason is the past "character" issues Cody has had. Maybe these are overblown, but hopefully they are in the past. My second reason for hesitation is the fact that major transfers haven't made too much noise in the Summit. Maybe I'm off base, it seems like there have been quite a few major transfers, but not a lot of those major transfers found their way to all-league teams. Doesn't really have a lot to do with Cody, but there have certainly been more productive major players to find their way into the Summit.

              Welcome to the Jackrabbits, Cody!

I understand everyone's hesitation in regards to Cody's past. However, I think 99% of the posters on here have no idea what it is like for kids to grow up now days. Cody made mistakes, a lot of kids make mistakes. His were magnified due to his status in the States largest city as an all world athlete. In my days (late 70s early 80s a lot of kids would get in trouble for drinking. Drugs of any kind weren't really in the picture till you got to college. These days prescription drugs are everywhere as are meth, heroin, etc. Marijuana has become more and more common among HS, Jr. High and even Middle School kids. I have a 3rd grader that we have already had to have the drug discussion with due to the prevalence, and acceptance of drugs in the part of the country we live in. I say all of us sit back and give the kids a chance. He is now around family, living close to home and playing in a very different situation at a very different school. By all indications he has had some time off to think about his choices, and has had the ability to sit back and not be the up and coming star; just another college student trying to make it. L

et the team police itself, my guess is that the remaining Seniors this year will do a fine job of holding Cody accountable.

I don't. I hope he lights it up, we win at least two more Summit Championships, and he ends up in the NBA. If he doesn't so be it, but that's what I'm going to hope for.

I don't want Cody Larson to be anonymous his last two years of playing. I hope Larson plays with a chip on his shoulder, becomes an All-Summit league player and hopefully plays his way into playing professional ball.

In the interview, he seems like he's ready to play and start his career around. I personally can not wait to see him play as a Jackrabbbit.

Maybe Jackdaniel is meaning off the court, or way from the basekball court.

I want him to do well to prove me wrong for what he does off the court. Things seem to be in his favor to be successfull at SDSU on and off the court. hope he takes advantage of both. When he is playing as long as he is a good teammate that contributes to the team and the team supports him thats all I care about on the court. And as long as we dont hear his name in the paper for the wrong reasons off the court thats what I hope for.

Even if he does not play at a star level, I love the instant depth he is sure to add at a couple of positions. The Jacks' roster lists him at 6'9 and 230 lbs, and we've all seen the athleticism he displayed during his senior year. Another benefit is that his presence may make it easier to redshirt both Severyn and Doyle and it may take some pressure off of Devine. All of that could pay off in the coming years. Lots of ripples in the pond of Larson plays at even a decent level....

However, I do agree with 2002Jack about guard play. Someone is going to have to step up and be a productive point guard for us to challenge for another title.

According to TV's "Tuesday Tidbits" this morning, Logan Doyle is still on the injured list - may even be a medical redshirt for this year? Donlan and Flatten are now both back after injury so Nagy will have (almost) a full bench to play with

You can't medical redshirt before taking a regular redshirt, unless he would begin the season, get injured and be out for the rest of the season. (I think that is the rule).

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy Cody is eligible to play right away. Any off court issues will run their course. I just don't normally get too excited about players who haven't played a minute for SDSU yet. I feel the same way about Broman, Donlan, Devine, etc. Lots of reasons to be optimistic about all those guys, but until they start playing nobody can say how they will perform. Larson, while very promising, has logged 143 college minutes scoring a total of 12 points and 21 rebounds. He has more fouls and turnovers than points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks combined. He was a top 100 recruit, but he was also below average at Florida. There have certainly been more productive major players who have transferred into the Summit without dominating the competition.

All I'm saying is I'm glad he is here, but I will wait to go nuts until he goes nuts on the court.

I think this boils down to how this affects the team more than anything. Got to get the chemistry right so it is advantageous for SDSU. Nobody knows how that will exactly look. But if I had make some guesses I would say Larson isn't a concern whatsoever. This is a guy that spent two years with Donavan and the Gators being a role player practice guy. He's going to adjust and fit in with SDSU and the Summit. The wildcard for me is Bittle. Doesn't want to be amazing but he needs to be reliable and good. I think his mission is getting the jacks into the offense efficiently and controlling tempo and making smart plays.
