I am happy to have Cody on the team. If he backs up his comments in the paper with the same attitude on the floor and in the classroom, he'll be fine.

TV has mentioned several times that Cody has friends on the team. Does anyone know who he is referring to?
Larson played for the Dakota Schoolers. Chad White, Tony Fiegen, Brayden Carlson, Zach Horstman, etc.

His actions in past have hurt former teammates, coaches, schools, but most importantly has probably hurt himself the most. If Coach Nagy thinks it is something that can work than I have confidence in him. I hope for Cody's sake he takes advantage of the opportunity. By the way, how would anyone like to have their name or relatives name put to a question like was done by the Argus Leader? I don't think fickle would be the word I would use to describe my response to the Argus Leader.
Thanks apparently it was in Wednesday paper, mute point, and here are the results printed in Thursday's paper:

        Wednesday’s results

Is Cody Larson a good fit for South Dakota State University?

Yes: 44 percent No: 56 percent Total votes: 227 votes For the latest local news, log on

This should be an incentive for Cody to prove the 56 per cent wrong. I think he will do so. The guy has nearly earned a degree and probably has a higher GPA than what I had 50 years ago. Fifty years ago, I did not write home to mother and well she has been pushing up daisies since 1984, but she knows how poorly I did.

The worst stat line I have seen in a long time in that game from Gruis:

          26 min, 3 points (1-2 fgs, 1-5 fts), 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 block, 5 turnovers, 4 fouls. That's worse than a no-show.

          Glad we got Cody!

Watching it now, at the 18 minute, break and so far, I see Cody as a guy who will be a fine addition to SDSU. Nagy wanted him pretty bad, that seems obvious.

I just watched the replay of the interview. Cody was thoughtful and well-spoken. He's off to a very good start as a Jackrabbit. It's interesting to note that once he decided to leave Florida and play basketball again, he wanted to go to SDSU, and SDSU wanted him. He did not really have a second choice for a college, he said. There was no need for one. He also talked about pursuing a double major or taking graduate courses, depending on how many years the NCAA allows him to play. I'll be cheering for him.

Me too. I was a little surprised with his body frame, very lean. I had him pictured as having a Tom Rops frame. In other words more beef.

It was interesting, but I really don't care what he has to say, I just want to know if A. he can play and B. he can stay clean and not necessarily in that order.

I would say: Not in that order at all.

If this lets him put his life back together and make something of himself as a human being and as a man for the next 60+ years, then it was worth doing.

If he's the greatest benchwarmer in Jackrabbit history, and goes on to a successful life as a man, father, respected member of the community, then it was worth the trust Nagy and his staff have placed in him.

I, personally, do not see this as being about on-court basketball success. I see it as being about something much, much bigger.

                          Re: Cody Larson to SDSU

Just watched it and came away impressed. Most of his past was just publicized from him being an athlete and Erik Murphy being involved. Sounds like he is just ready to play and go to class. Double major while playing D1 sports is impressive regardless of everything else. Can't wait to see him in a Jacks uniform. Hope he can play the full 3 years.

As far as off the court issues, I've done some pretty dumb stuff. Good thing I'm not an athlete I guess.

Really liked what I heard in the interview. Obviously Cody has to follow those words with actions, but it was encouraging and gives me hope that he will represent SDSU well both on and off the court.

Getting three years out of the waiver, is being optimistic, but what do I know. It could happen. Lets hope the committee members weigh all the factors and grant him 3 years. He will no doubt have his masters by that time, which is a good thing. He should be well prepared for life after BB. One comment about learning to play his back to basket really impressed me since, we have not had a true post player though Fiegen, Heemstra and Dykstra have given their best. Stu was asking about being a 3 or 4 but seems like he could start as a 5 and allow Devine more time to work his way into being the true 5 guy.

Lastly, he seems to be intellectually motivated, Stu mentioned that he always had good grades. We cant go wrong on this deal. You just cant believe all this crap that the Argus Liar prints. This has been my source of info on Cody Larson, but after yesterday's interview, we are seeing a real individual.

                              Just my thoughts.

Does anyone know what the time tables are on the appeals? My guess is the no sit out transfer should be decided soon. The 6th year? I thought you had to wait until after the 5th year to apply for that, but I'm probably wrong.
