    Re: Pet peeves

Hopefully they do not hurt either program income or attendance. Most of the league schools would be happy to sell a women's ticket for $10 and normally $5 would be enough. The price of progress.

I don't believe you see this on good teams. We are pretty much down to a 6 man rotation with 1 guy that might get anywhere from 0-15 minutes depending on the matchups. This frustrates me to no end. When Benson was in the league, I could see playing for matchups, but not now. HOW ABOUT WE MAKE OTHER TEAMS ADJUST TO OUR PLAYERS INSTEAD OF TRYING TO ADJUST OUR GAMEPLAN TO BEAT TEAMS WE SHOULD BE BETTER THAN??????

Huh? In the last three games that you mention two players off the bench played at least 10 min. in each game.

      NDSU - Marcus 10 min. - Taevaunn 15
      UMKC - Marcus 15 - Jake 14
      USD - Marcus 15 - Jake 11

        Re: Pet peeves

Dykstra's inconsistent play this season is one of my pet peeves.

AT Montana: 16pts 10rbs, 7-13 FG. GOOD ... Team: Win
AT Belmont: 4pts 2rbs, 2-6 FG. BAD .... Team: Loss
AT New Mexico: 10pts 10rbs, 4-8 FG. GOOD ... Team: Win
AT NDSU: 7pts 9rbs, 3-9 FG. BAD ... Team: Loss
AT UMKC: 21pts 3rbs, 7-13 FG. GOOD Team: WIN
AT USD: 8pts 5rbs, 2-9 FG, including a missed WIDE open three to take the lead with :20 left. BAD .. TEAM: Loss

Nagy calls Dykstra the best shooter on the team and that's probably true, but he's so inconsistent. In the games where he played pretty well, the Jacks won. It's not just him this year, but he gets more notice since he was supposed to be the team's big number two scorer. In some games, he is, but in others, it's like he doesn't show up.
He has rebounded better this year, so I'll give him credit for that. Just wish he was more consistent. I know he will turn it around.

Good one - definitely a pet peeve. You can't pin the flip-floppy nature of this year's team on one player but Dykstra's occaisional dissapearing act is probably the single biggest factor. He could probably singlehandedly "save" the season by turning things around.

So the coaching staff thinks that Taevaunn is good enough to contribute against NDSU, but not against UMKC or USD? In what world does that make sense?

And that Bittle dramatically improved since earning zero minutes at NDSU to the point where he gets over 10 minutes against UMCK and USD?

I am sick of people talking about matchups for why rotations stink, and if that's the reason then our coaching staff is overthinking things. Other teams should be trying to gameplan and gimmick to figure out how to matchup with us. Not the other way around.

              Re: Pet peeves

I'll get in on this one......my pet peeve is when supposed "fans" rag on this team. And I'm not referring to just a few random statements, but rather an entire thread(s) sometimes just keeps going on and on in negativity towards them. It amazes me how a bunch of adults (I'm just assuming that most posters are adults, although you often do not post like one) insist on berating this team. If you're really going to call yourself a "fan", then start posting like one. For as negative as many of you are, you may as well join the USD student body, because that's what you are acting like............ no class. So, yeah, my pet peeve is people who need to get a life............a positive one.

You answered your own questions. Yes it is matchups and maybe health. You want to see a Summit League team with a rotation like you are asking for? 10 guys avg. over 10 min. per game. Look no further then UMKC

                http://espn.go.com/mens-college-bask...umkc-kangaroos

UNO has 9 guys avg. over 10 min. per game.

Playing lots of people lots of min. doesn't automatically = good basketball.

Who do you think deserves to play more and who do you think needs to play less. Please be specific, I am curious.

You and I don't see eye to eye on Coach Nagy I get that and I am ok with it. Agree to disagree, but I am going to defer to the Coach with the most wins in program history who has also taken us to the NCAAs and has led this team to a 11-6 record with a win over #16 New Mexico so far this year. He has forgotten more about basketball then I will ever know.

Ok I will bite. What you call fans being negative is what I see as fans noticing a team falling short of their capabilities. I guess I am one who thinks SDSU has the chance to do something special and I will be disapointed(as I am sure the team will be also) if those goals are not reached. By that I mean win the confrence and make the dance again. final Thought, the team should be more upset in how they have played then the fans are. If the team is happy and content then they have other issues than supposed "fans" belly aching on a message board that shouldnt be taken to seriously to begin with.

Other teams should struggle to match up with us. If Taevaunn is hurt, disregard a lot of this (although we should have someone capable of stepping up...).

I'm not advocating a 10 player rotation, but I can't see the logic that says Taevaunn is good enough for:

                              18 minutes against Alabama
                              23 minutes against TN St
                              19 minutes against Montana
                              18 minutes against Belmont
                              15 minutes against NDSU

But not good enough to see 1 minute of action while the starters were getting their butts handed to them (don't want anyone questioning my fanhood, so lets say not playing to their potential) against what is supposed to be an inferior USD team.

As far as specifics, Taevaunn, Heemstra, and Bittle should be getting meaningful minutes every game. Barring injury, they shouldn't disappear be on the bench.

Questioning tactics doesn't mean I don't support the coach or the team, although I certainly have my issues with many of Coach Nagy's tendencies. While he does have the most wins of any coach, he also has the most losses. He did lead the team to a win against #16 New Mexico, but he also led them to a loss against #300+ USD. EDIT: He is the best coach we've ever had, but he doesn't walk on water.
