You may be a bit cranky this morning. The Williams kid has been tugging Alford's chain before, but he is certainly well trained for the media. He is only a junior and I would guess he will do a better job in the future or Alford may do a Bobby Knight and allow him to leave the team regardless of the on the floor contributions. The Williams kid is from California and I am certain that the Midwest background of Alford is a contrast at times.

As for the two players interviewed, I would love to see Greenwood wear a Jack Uniform, but the Williams guy, I am not so sure. Williams had better be a crackerjack in the classroom, if he were to be on my team. But I have no team and maybe its a little unfair to judge a 18-22 year old. His casual attitude seems to show at times, and that is not good.

No not cranky at all. Enjoying a Christmas gathering right now as I type. Seems like when these student athletes sit down for a Press conf, they put their total self on display and thats the difference between Williams and Greenwood. Greenwood came across more positive. Williams and Adams are badly needed in their rotation, that is evident, and if they were not needed they would really be on a banana peel. Williams is hardly Central LA, he appears to be from a middle class upbringing and he realizes what is required. He is like you said tugging Alford's chain, and Alford's patience will soon wear thin unless Williams has a turnaround.

I was joking of course about your crankiness. However, you (and I) have a certain expectation of other people's behavior. (It may be a regional thing with this attitude.) The coming to a game late that has 15K plus in attendance finds no humor in your independent and arrogant behavior. Alford showed the discipline to not start the pair even though they played them normal minutes during the game as signal to these young men that actions bring some consequences. Maybe the next time it will result in a day off. Too often many of these young athletes(and many young people) are coddled too much and at least we saw a little bit of discipline or accountability. Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas. I am not up on RPI's for conferences but it just seems the PAC 10 should be higher than the Mountain West. Beating New Mexico at the Pit was a big deal, but Washington was no slouch last year either. So both I hold dear as well as the Montana win in two OT,s. Those games have shown character. I mixing threads here but NOVAJacks comments of AJ outcoaching the Georgetown guy, is spot on. Since he was courtside, I trust his observations, and we got two very excellent coaches. Both need a raise to keep them around.

The regular conference season is upon us and the conversation about salaries for successful coaches should be a topic if we want the Jackrabbit to become the mascot seen around the country. The university has these desires to become prominent in the national eye with the rabbit, it will need to continue endorsing successful programs. I do not know the revenues that are made with the basketball programs, but I would guess revenues are greater with successful programs at the local level as well. The news this season was more season tickets sold than earlier years. The current coaches have made some commitment to the programs during the transition to DI. It would be an awkward scene to have one leave over a few dollars.

The pac 10 hasnt had much for a few years. They have only Arizona ranked right now while the MWC has New Mexico, UNLV and San Diego ST. Wyoming is unbeated but hasnt played anyone. Boise St won at Creighton and lost to Mich St by only 4. So the MWC is much better than the Pac 10. Hopefully New Mexico can play will in conference and make our win over them much sweeter.

Thanks for your input and I dont doubt it's accruacy. If this is what filbert and others are going by, yesterday was the biggest win in history. BTW, the 1963 team played a Utah Utes team very close. I checked their archives and they did not have winning season that year, like 12-14, so even if they had pulled an upset it would not have rivaled yesterday in greatness. These big wins dont come often. I hope and pray there will be more big upsets.

New Mexico and the MWC is good, and probably better then the PAC-12. Though I'd argue that the win at Washington was a bigger win because of what it sparked, and Washington is a bigger name than New Mexico. But the New Mexico win is what I'd consider the best win. Win against a ranked opponent, at one of the tougher places to play in the country, in front of 15K is impressive.

As far as the money, being better does help with season tickets, but the one negative is scheduling, I know Terry has mentioned that its hard to get solid home games, and winning 5 guarantee games the past 5 years has probably hurt scheduling those games as well. That is why I think having Denver in the Summit helps because its another solid home game.

Agreed. I cheering for NM and Montana from here on. The fact that we beat both on the same long roadtrip still impresses me. The meltdown in the second half at Belmont really got a lot of us down (especially me). The truth of the bigger picture is that I would have been extremely happy with winning two out of three on this trip even if SDSU came in firing on all cylinders.

New Mexico already had a top-10 RPI with wins over UCONN, USC, Valpo, & Davidson. They should have plenty of opportunity to keep that RPI high (and help SDSU) playing the likes of UNLV and the OTHER SDSU, along with a matchups with Cincinnati and St. Louis. Those are two more good games. Washington did not do us many favors last year in terms of racking up quality wins, and they also did not come into the game with an RPI/ranking nearly as high as NM's. Hopefully NM will keep their hot streak going all the way to the Tournament.

I am not an authority of the RPI, kenpom, or whatever else is out there today to measure the schedules and teams. I do know that the links that have been posted here with the news about the win by the Jacks and even seeing a paragraph in today's Orlando(Florida is a warm place for Christmas) sports page that this team is on the radar much it like started to brew last year after the Washington game. It will take a successful conference campaign to keep the light on the Jacks. Even with the disappointing loss to the yotes last year, the Jacks kept spotlight burning. I am sure that the team is prepared for the next leg.

Looks like a SDSU win forced a drop in the ratings for New Mexico. The other SDSU took their place at 16 in one poll.
