  • Re: Baylor

The nothing-to-lose aspect is what makes this week so fun. I'm sure the players feel the same way. Things are totally different if you are the #3 seed. Those guys are under big-time pressure in the early games. If things don't start off well, players can tighten up and things get interesting.

The difference in attitude and expectation is why you see so many upsets and near-upsets in the first 2 days of the tourney. If you think it is impossible, you clearly have not been following the NCAA tourney very long. Most of the high seeds will take care of business thursday and friday, but a few of them are going to (at least) sweat it out to the end. It happens every year. Go Jacks!

no doubt...That's why I said earlier that your biggest cause for hope is our game in 10 against 2010...it's exactly how you want things to go...a junk defense, leaving wide open, talented shooters who put up air balls for 5/6 of the game...In the last 2 minutes of the game I was sitting in the NOA legitimately scared that we might be 1 and done...it was crazy...but we pulled it out...then were better in round two...then AWESOME in round 3 and then one completely BS charge call from the Final Four...

      so, I'm saying....there's a chance...

Wasn't that long ago RO was defending the red & white to the south. He's come a long way. Some slack is called for.

It would surprise me if we win. I really hope I'm wrong, but this is a bad, bad match up. I think we lose by double digits.

It all depends on which PJIII shows up. Baylor has the length in the frontcourt but SDSU has the length in the backcourt. If you think we lose by double digits than why are "experts" picking SDSU as their "upset special"

I'd agree a double digit loss is the most probable result.

But then, as the saying goes, "that's why you play the game."

I think RO's point of view is fair, I believe all things considered we are probably a 10 point under dog. Still, I am hopeful expecting a good game. Who ever thought VCU or UNI would have made the runs they did.

Because Baylor has been, at times, spectacularly inconsistent. They're a young team, starting one senior and one freshman. If SDSU comes out and punches them square in the mouth, it could be a game.

thats what i think ! get some rolls, a few calls go our way, baylor comes out even a tad sluggish, and we knock down big and of course difficult shots early then BAM ! your in a ball game

What gives me hope against Baylor is how Missouri beat them in the Big 12 Championship Game.

No, I'm not saying we are as good as Missouri, but we actually have more size than them and we play a similar, uptempo style. Obviously they are a quicker team, but our guards are longer and play more discipline defense than what what Missouri played in the championship game.

Here is the starting lineup comparison in terms of height:
                          Mizzou / SDSU
                          6'8" / 6'8"
                          6'6" / 6'7"
                          6'3" / 6'4"
                          6'2" / 6'4"
                          5'10" / 6'4"

This tells me that a guard oriented team that plays uptempo can knock of Baylor despite their size advantage. Not saying we will do it, but recent history says it can be done.
If you think nobody cares about you, try missing a couple of payments.

By putting quotation marks around experts,i believe you answered your own question.

Haha yes I realize that and have said that from the match-up was announced just wanted to ask RO why he thinks we would do worse than what "experts" are picking us to win. Haha and jack power I put quotation marks to emphasize the expert part.
