Re: Baylor
I think I have tended to defend Baylor from time to time. I reserve the right to reverse my position...the NCAA is calling them "major violations." This should be an interesting case to follow.
Added later:
I just discovered there's a new thread "Baylor Sanctions" under the topic "College Athletics" that is covering the subject of KULaw's post and my reply. For convenience, I'll close this thread and recommend people follow the subject in the Baylor Sanctions thread.

Re: Baylor
This may be old news, but after some Baylor fans ranted at us about their program being squeaky clean, I thought it may be relevant.
http://espn.go.com/college-sports/st...ncaa-sanctions
EDIT: Additionally, based on the time frame when some of these infractions occurred, would Baylor still have been under other sanctions/probation by the NCAA from the earlier stuff? If so, it may get ugly.

I know he basically sat out the next five games and didn't play at all at Nebraska. Makes me wonder if he was at full-strength those games how they would have played out differently.

I know Nagy will have the guys up for this game. They have no pressure on them like they did in the Sioux Falls Arena. They aren't supposed to win this game. Baylor has all the pressure. Hopefully the Baylor players are looking ahead and forget about the Jacks. One can hope, right?
Also, for a 3-14 matchup has the line ever been 7.5-8.5 points?
Let's go Jacks. Time to shine
Baylor by 7.5 over South Dakota State
Florida State by 6.5 over St. Bonaventure
Georgetown by 3.5 over Belmont

That year "The Pit" was witness to one of the biggest NCAA tourney upsets of all time. The University of Houston was unworldly athletic, they may have been the most athletic team to play the game. They had a nickname of Phi Slama Jama. I know of no other team that actually had a nickname. And then there was a 10 loss team in North Carolina State that everyone said did not belong in the tourney. They won the ACC tourney to get an auto bid, or else they would not have had an at large bid. The media was making the championship a formality and to just hand the trophy to Houston.
There really was no way for NC State to win that game. They were outmatched at every position. The only thing NC State had going for them is heart. They had the heart of a champion. They were also lead by a man of great character, Jimmy Valvano. Prior to the championship game, nobody really knew who Jim Valvano was, but by the time he left this world, he was known and respected by all.
I remember watching that game in my dorm room at SDSU with a group of students and we were just glued to the TV watching this underdog taking the athletic team to the wire. At the end of the game I was in shock when Lorenzo Charles grabbed that missed shot and dunked it as time was expiring. I am not sure you could have written a better ending. It was really stuff of Hoosiers on a bigger stage.
Now here we are nearly 30 years later and there are some similarities in these teams. Scott Nagy was at that game 30 years ago and I am sure that Jimmy Valvano's brother, Bob Valvano was at that game also. Bob Valvano was the announcer at the Jack's Bracket Buster game and the Summit Championship game. Bob Valvano has been an advocate for SDSU since he saw the Jacks a month ago.
I believe in destiny and I believe that something special is going to happen in "The Pit" on Thursday night. I believe that the planets are aligning and I can't wait for Thusday night.
Go State!!!
Go Jacks!!!

Re: Baylor
I'd argue all loses are bad, and losses at home by double digits are worse, and losing by a not very close 19 is even worse. Yeah, I don't care if you lose by 19 to Kentucky at home its a bad loss if you are Washington.
