Back to the game, since that's what I'm interested in now. Maybe our Griz guest could talk about his team. I'd be interested in hearing about it. Who should we be looking out for? What's the strongest unit? How are the special teams?

Seriously, there's a game Saturday, and I want to know what to watch for.

I probably share some of the same biases about Montana expressed by zooropa but I'm trying to keep those to myself. But let's all keep in mind that if you want to smack, please visit the very convenient, free-of-charge smack section which is open 24 hours a day.

To the extent that nothing I said was untrue, or an exaggeration, I don't consider it smack. Montana -is- a standing joke in the HPER center.

However, having made my feelings about Montana altogether too clear for some posters' comfort, I'll keep my mouth shut, figuratively speaking.


(BTW: How could you assume I was lakesbison I used capital letters properly, expressed intelligible thoughts, and didn't say "Mertens in '09, Mohler '10-'12, no problem guys" -- and sorry in advance for that bit of OT smack)

Smack is not defined, at least on this board, as only untrue statements; and, truth is not always a defense to smack.

You may be surprised how much I agree with the feelings you've expressed. Nonetheless, we try to keep stuff like that in the smack section (where I've been tempted to ask "Will Montana try to buy its way out of this game?")

Whatever, dude. As I said. It's not about the reneged contract. It's about the conduct of the program. Frankly, I'm holding back from what I'd like to say about the program.

Then by all means go to their board let them know what you think.

I could give a crap less how their school/AD is run. The facts are they kick ass in football and I want to know from the one person brave enough to come over here what to watch for.

To each his own. I don't tell you how to post and so don't tell me. He came here simply to gloat and if you want to kiss your home-state program's fans arse be my guest.

I'm not kissing anybody's arse, and its not my home state, i just didnt realize we had to be pricks to other teams visitors because something their idiot AD did a few years ago. I don't think their was any gloating until you decided to be a jerk. I just always liked the respect that was given to other teams fans that came to this website, and didnt think it was a good way to start this week.

I was as mad as anyone about montana not going to brookings, and I let all the fans I know out here know about it. Just so you know, a lot of them weren't happy about it either.

We run a pretty run/pass balanced, west coast style offense. Our biggest weapons on offense are probably our huge offensive line, Chase Reynolds and Marc Mariani. Marc Mariani is also an unstoppable punt returner. Check out some of the MSU highlights, you guys will probably try to avoid punting to him. Our defense has gotten a lot better over the course of the year, but our pass rush leaves a little to be desired, and I wish we would blitz more. We started out the season playing pretty much like a cover 2 deep "bend but don't break" defense. We gave up a lot of passing yards, but not to many points. We have since started running more man cover, and being more agressive. It has worked pretty well. Our corners Trumaine Johnson and Andrew Swink are real good, as well as our linebackers. The run defense is pretty good allowing only 87 yards a game.

Prick or Jerk which is it? I have always been respectful to visiting fans on this site and theirs. When it comes to Montana not going to happen. If you have chosen to move on because of where you live so be it I have not and doubt neither has Stig and the Athletic Dept. You just don't buy out a contract after we have come to your place on consecutive years and then adding insult to injury offer to play another series beginning at your place!

3467 has both been involved with the football teams at SDSU and NDSU and now works in the state of Montana. The fact that he posts on the Jackrabbit website should tell you where his allegiances are.

I have always had a hard time understanding people that carry a grudge about something that has nothing to do with them. The only people that should be dissapointed with Montana not coming to Coughlin should be the players that were on the team that year. The only people that the athletic dept staff should be dissapointed with is themselves for writing a contract that didn't cover themselves on the back end. I can also damn near guarantee you that Stig has nothing but respect for the program at Montana and what they have been able to accomplish at this level.

I don't have any reason to have any venom toward Montana, I enjoyed Mizzoula when I was there and the stadium was an amazing atmosphere. My wife got to go on that trip and stayed in the stands and soaked it up. She is now a bit of a Montana fan just from her experience. (except for this week)

GrizMonster, why do you guys use two quarterbacks? It does not appear one is more mobile than the other as they both don't have much for rushing yards.

Lots of points at 34 per game. What happened against Idaho St. would be interesting.

The #1 back has numbers similar to Minnet. The #1 receiver, who is the punt returner, appears to be very good, I saw those punt return numbers at 18 per return, yikes. Maybe the Jacks won't have to punt (not due to turnovers).

Only 16 sacks in 11 games bodes well for giving TOB time to throw. But they have as many int's as sacks, so be careful.

They're obviously good given the #1 seed but they can be scored on and they didn't blow most teams out. Maybe they haven't seen a defense as good as the Jacks.

I will admit, I don't follow the BSC at all during the year. Looking at their conference, I don't understand why they got 3 teams in the playoffs. My guess is more their reputation than substance (Weber also lost 2 close games to FBS teams Wyoming and Colorado State).
I know the MVC was weak at the bottom end, but I think the top 6 in the MVC is much better.
